Just wondering how long it is that you've had to wait for your final pup to be delivered?
Our last pup was delivered at 8.20am, all's quiet with Mum though still puffing quite a lot, but then it's hot. My friend feels there may well be another pup or two to come out, and if so they're being carried high. She's heading back my way just to make sure. But I was wondering how long anyone else had had to wait for the final pup. We may well have our lot. I really, really need 1 more, but if not there, it's not there!
There was 1 1/2 hrs between 1 and 2, then decreasing between the rest, with nearly another 1 1/2 between 5 and 6, the final one so far.

My litter was born overnight last night, No. 5 arrived at 11.25pm and No. 6 (final pup) arrived at 2.05am, I would say it does sound as though she's finished, is she settled with her babies now?  The panting continues for days afterwards anyway no matter what the temperature.

Hi I had a four hour gap between number 6 and 7 had just loaded her into the car for a trip to the vets and the late comer arrived.

I had 8 hours before the last pup emerged.She had been contacting but not strongly so after an hour of contracting i called vet out who examined her and said she was empty just trying to expell afterbirth! 7 hours later few strong pushes out pops a pup!!!!

Saying this that was my first litter,i have had five since then and would say that after a couple of hours have passed with content ,relaxed looking mum that's normally the lot.
My bitches have always panted alot for the first few weeks when nursing whatever the weather.

I hope you get you're extra puppy but if not i'm glad you had a trouble free whelping,always something to be grateful for.

On the advance of my experienced friend, I took my girl to the vet last time anyway for a shot of oxytocin to make sure there were no retained puppies or afterbirths. Might be worth considering?

I have waited 12 hours, but it was a large litter of 14.   We always have a post whelping check which includes a shot of oxytocin, to help her expell any retained placentas or a puppy, some of the pups have a long way to come down, and if it has been a long, tiring whelping just need a little bit of extra help.

Just to update, we've returned from a trip to the vet where it was confirmed there wasn't another pup waiting to pop out when least expected! What we felt was guts !!!! Easy mistake to make, specially as they moved.
Better safe than sorry, it's been a very planned and very much awaited litter and it would have been silly to hold out and have complications set in.

Now try to rest and enjoy teh new family.  The first two of mine are goign to theri new hoems tommorrow.  Then another in the week, another next weekend and then the last at the beginning of August.

The time wasting has begun here ... puppies are awful time wasters!!
Been discussing today the plan of attack for when pups are due to leave, plan to spread out with earliest at 8 weeks through to 10 weeks, or later if anyone wants to collect later. They're a cracking litter and Mum has been absolutely brill

I have found the weekend after they are 7 weeks seems to be the time they are ready to have solo attention and start learning self control and discipline.  In practice this means theya re about 7 1/2 to 8 weeks.

I like to spread their leaving too, and ti usually works out that they go over a week or two.

This time the first four will go within about a week, last not until 12 1/2 weeks (she is going to Australia).

Wow, that's a BIG trip! I've a friend who has a dog whose sperm is off to Oz!! Probably not quite the same travel method involved, I hope. I hope it all goes smoothly, am sure it will.
