Hi, I have just lost my best friend, Zak a 12 yr old Long haired German Shepherd. He was stunning with looks and personality and I miss him very much. His life ended last Wednesday and had to be put to sleep. I need a long haired G.S.D. to help fill the gap that Zak has left, but I must say no Dog could ever replace him but like I say will help fill the gap, but would also get the same love & attention.
So if any one knows of any Long Haired Shepherd Breeders or even any young GSD's in the north west I'd be glad to hear.
Regards John

hi john,
sorry to hear of your loss

have you tried looking on the breeders section of the site ?
if you have and you are not seeing a breeder , i am sure someone will be able to help you here... good luck

Try GSD2000 rescue and rehome, they are always full with all sorts of GSD's. Or ring around the local rescues inc GSD ones. I have two GSD's very special dogs, I bought them from breeders but recently rescued a lovely Rotty bitch - perfect! Fantastic feeling to rescue a dog, best thing I ever did.
Good luck.
Who cares about a few dog hairs!

Sorry for your loss.
My GSD is a rescued dog, brilliant very clever dogs.
Try my german shepherd forum, their is people on there also that maybe able to help.
You will be vetted tho.
Good luck.

Hi John
Sorry to hear about your loss. Try Ted Kewley of Lancashire GSD Rescue, he is a lovely man and does a sterling job for GSD's in need of rehoming. Tell him Jenny had suggested you ring him.
Jenny

Sorry for your loss,I can understand what a gap in your life you have at the moment,Our first ever dog that my husband and I had as a couple was a beautiful long coated GSD girl, and i will never forget that day we brought that tiny bundle of fluffiness home. She is still missed all these years later.
I hope you find the next chapter, in owning another GSD.
Properly trained,a man can be a dogs best friend.

So sorry for your loss
Like you said, no other dog will fill his space, but you could help a GSD in need and it may help you with grieving for Zak.
German shepherd dog rescue are great, have known a few GSD's come from there.
There is a 4 yr old bitch called Maisie in the North West section, she is just absolutely gorgeous! If there was space here at my house I would definitely have her.
Good luck finding the right dog for you

Have pm'd you Johnq

How do I find details of Maisie
Sorry to hear about your loss. It's so hard to lose a loving companion after years together. I lost my GSDxBlack Lab last year. Devastated is not the word!!!!! As you say, you will never replace Zak as all dogs have their own personality. We now have a long haired GSD who I love to bits!! We looked at the GSD rescue website and they have some beautiful dogs on there who all deserve a second chance. If you go to their website, www.germanshepherdrescue.co.uk on the left hand side of the page is an option for Dogs by Region. Click on there and then your area. I have just had a look at Maisie and she is a beauty!!!

I've PM'd you about Maisie.

Why did I have to go and have alook at that site !!! Maisie is lovely similar to my Whispa good luck john

Yeah, she does look very similar to whispa doesn't she

I thought that chris
German Shepherd Rescue Oh my goodness what a huuuuge number of dogs needing homes
There are some very gorgeous ones in there for the right homes though John. I rather found myself drawn to the odd ones out though - Harley in Central region looks like a Golden Retriever but looks as though he'd settle in very nicely. Hint hint

I've seen a golden GSD like Harley at our dog club, I never knew they came in that colour, or is it a sign that they aren't purebred?

There are a few of the more usual 'white' ones elsewhere on their site but Harley really does look like a cross (picture different ears!) doesn't he. Although they've specifically mentioned NOT purebred on other listings so perhaps they've just missed the cross reference this time or maybe Harley is just an unusual one... ? Rather sweet though isn't he

Why did I just spend ages looking at that site, it was very upsetting to read some of the stories. None of the dogs on there deserved to end up in rescue. If my lottery ticket comes up they'll be first on the list for a hefty donation.

I think Harley is pure gsd and yes the whites colours to vary enormously he is beautiful I think possibly the variations show more in the whites than other colours. For example my Whispa is soild black but you also get solid blues, and liver (chocolate ) not to mention the various sable colourings including grey and reds and the more usual black and tan to mention a few.
Now we have all got started really shouldnt look at these sites it makes you wish you had the means to take them all!

Thanks for that ff, this GSD at club is a lovely golden colour like Harley, I've seen white ones and creamy, but never a golden before - gorgeous!
