Hello

I want to get married somewhere different, but it must be in the UK so all family can attend. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for something unusual. I was thinking of a safari park but my partner is not as obsessed with animals as I am so I need to think of alternatives.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

What about in a forest somewhere..

In a castle? The groom could wear a suit of armour - you could have a medieval banquet for a reception with flagons of wine and throw chicken legs at elderly relatives :D

LOL!! Like this idea - as long as he can get the suit off for the evening....be prepared and take a can-opener.
My first choice was an Elvis Presley priest in LA but my grandma is 87 so can't put her thru the torture of flight.

My friend got married in a Scottish castle and half way through the reception she had some of the lads fom work who are in a battle reinactment group to come in in their Kilts and hijack the grooms mother - all in good fun - it was a scream!

I wondered about that and seeing if I could 'rent' the elephants for a ride!

PS I just remembered something, so change of direction but I went for a meal last night in Amsterdam and was offered Kudu - it turns out to be a baby Gazelle type deer. Is this happening in the UK yet???

Kudus are huge antelopes with sweeping horns. Kudu biltong is very popular in South Africa - it's very nice

Don't know where you're based but Edinburgh Zoo do weddings - got a contact if you're interested they have a beautiful listed house as the members restaurant etc and have conference/reception facilities - have a contact if you need one - I used to work there. No Elephants though I'm afraid but I think theres a private evening tour included in the package.

How about a parachute drop with the vicar!! You know all holding hands!! I saw a TV prog about weird weddings and one was done with the happy couple, each one strapped to a light aircraft with the vicar in a third one flying in the middle, with microphones and head sets - does that make sense? I think the medieval theme would be fun, deerhounds and serving wenches etc. Just had another idea - how about under water - scuba diving in the Carrabean (sp?). Crufts main ring ? or is that too long to wait? LOL. Do tell us what you decide, my imagination is running riot now. Glennfydicks ( apologies J, for spelling) distillery would probably be my first choice, but I think I'll stick with present hubby, so wont get another bash at it - ( getting marriued I mean)- hopefully. Thanks for the ideas! Like the parachute jump....we were actually talking about doing one anyway so might be the perfect choice. I have put my foot down on one point though, we must have a dog before we get married as I want the dog to be nearby for the ceremony - didn't go down well!

Thank you all for your suggestions, I appreciate your input. Will let you know the location once I have my dog - which I am still debating what breed, so it might be a long time coming.

I told my parents the other week if I were to marry (still looking for the man though!!) that as I don't really want to get married in a church, maybe I could do it at Harewood House at Leeds Champ week, when the gundogs are on. Get married and then rush into the showring afterwards with my dogs still in the dress!!

I thought it was a good idea actually, but for some reason they weren't impressed, I haven't a clue why!:D

I wanted to get marrried in the Best in Show Ring at Crufts! With my dogs as bridesmaids! But had to make do with the Register Office.
Wonder if anyone has ever got married at a Champ show?

A canal barge? Or boat of somesort? At least that way any relative too p**sed could stumble overboard- save throwing them out personally:D
