But not just an ordinary bracelet - a south african handmade bracelet!!

I've lost the one my boyfriend brought back for me at Christmas and couldn't bring myself to tell him I had done. He thinks it's in a drawer somewhere! But i'm on holiday with him and his parents in just over a week and I know he'll ask again so i'm desperately trying to find another one.

Have had no luck so far. It needs to look like this one :- http://www.ijaba.com/shopexd.asp?id=126

Hope that linked worked. I can't get any reply from that company so if anyone's seen anything similar anywhere please let me know!

Big box of chocs for anyone who can help! :-)

Thanks Kate

Kate, tell him the truth, tell him how upset you are, tell him you thought about trying to replace it, but tell him the truth.

Hi Kate, it's horrible losing things that are special to us, but I have to agree, tell him what's happened.  I had to tell my husband I lost the diamond solitaire his dad had given me when we got married which had belonged to his mum who had died a few years previously.  He was upset at the time, but I think I was more upset than he was and horrible as it is, we both got over it.

Good luck and have a great holiday.  :-)

> tell him what's happened

I agree . It is better to say that you have lost it than tell a lie or mislead him .

Maybe a bit naughty, but next time he visits could you not start looking under furniture, in cupboards, etc, and ask him if he has seen it? Get him involved in the search. That way you can both be upset at the same time about it going missing.

If this man is important to you then give him the open and truthful explanation, if he cares for you he will understand after all he must have lost something himself at some time. Not saying he may not be upset or cross but if your relationship is strong you will be better respected than if he finds our your impression of him is such that you can not tell him the truth.

I agree tell him the truth ...but if you really feel the need to find a replica there used to be a shop in St Ives cornwall that sold that kinda stuff dont know the name but if you ring thier tourist centre its based in the town they should be able to tell you.

Perhaps he's found it and is checking to see if you realise it's gone?

I'm with the others be honest and say you've searched high and low for it.
Could even ask him to help you look again for it?
It's not like you lost it on purpose...

Thank you all :-)

I know I should tell him the truth and he will take it well as he knows how much the bracelet means to me ,and how cross I am at losing it. It's just that he's away for several months and gave me a sweetheart brooch for my birthday and I don't want him worrying that i'll lose that too and that it doesn't mean as much to me as he wanted it too. Hope this makes sense as I can't really find the right words to explain what i'm trying to say.

I just wanted to find something similar to replace it so he knows how distraught I am at losing it. ( plus I liked it , and the principle behind it! )

I expect he won't even remember it by the time he returns.
