I'd like to try superlorin on my dog ..... I asked my vet today and they had never heard of it :/ is there a page somewhere I could maybe print out and show the vet so they can tell me whether they will be able to get it? thanks.

Here you go, http://www.noahcompendium.co.uk/Compendium/Overview/-42617.html you can look up most drugs there.

Very poor that the Vet has not kept up with this as it has been available in UK for at least a year.

I first used it 18 months ago and my vets knew of it but had never used it. I was told that each injection lasted for 6 months but with my dog it lasted for 14 months - one thing I was not warned about was the fact that slowly the testis shrink to almost nothing they do how ever return once the medication wears off and so does the desire. So would be OK to use on a dog you want to use but you have to allow more time than you may think - have not used a dog that has been on this but I understand it does not effect the performance once all traces have left the body. Also found my dog put on body weight and lost his manly figure but that returned once the medication ran out.

I asked my vet about this a couple of months ago and he insisted that it was still undergoing trials - I emailed him with up to date information !!

Think it has been used in Australia for many years and it has been available here for at least 2 years - I would be worried if my vet was so far behind the times - if a client asks for something they should look into it if they are at all interested in their job.

We've used it at the vets i work at a few times now, its a huge needle though, even bigger than a microchip inserter.

I'm currently loving Suprelorin. I got my lad done earlier when I was expecting my puppy to come into season. She's in season again now (the first was a typical non event lol) and he's not noticed :D I don't fully trust the implant, they aren't left alone or unsupervised etc etc but he truely hasn't realised anythings a miss.

I work @ a vets and although the data sheet days 6m, it definately varies between dogs. We tend to tell people although the official paperwork says 6m, to not give it if they have any plans to breed the dog within the next year - 18m.
