Has anyone any info on Fragaria (Think the spelling is right) when used on a Bernese who has a blood clotting disorder. (Not sure if it is a full-blown haemophiliac) My own thoughts are that if it were rubbed on the teeth with a finger there would be little chance of trouble but if a toothbrush was used then it could be possible to cause bleeding of the gums. Something which I have no experience with but I thought maybe a GSD person may have come across?

Thanks, John

Hi John

Fragaria is a homeopathic remedy taken in tablet form usually (one tablet a day for a month) - it's not something that is applied directly to the teeth like a toothpaste. I'm sure Ainsworths (the homeopathic pharmacy) would be happy to advise on whether Fragaria is a suitable remedy for a dog with a blood-clotting disorder but I can't see there would be a problem

Ainsworths have a website at http://www.ainsworths.com (sorry still haven't managed to work out how to make this a clickable link!)

Regards

Jane

Thanks, think I've got it now :-)

Thanks Jane, I'll pass that on. I didn't know it was tablet, had a phone call this evening and was asked the question. (The Flower looks after her own teeth, works the tooth brush without my help!!!) I'll have a look at he website.

Regards, John

I have some fragaria tablets which we tried on Sue's golden retriever. the dog did not cope very well with them, would you like to have the tablets?

Just a note to say that Fragaria in particular, needs crushing between two teaspoons, and then tipped preferably under the tongue, but on top is ok. With many remedies it doesn't matter whether they are crushed or not, but Fragaria is more effective crushed, the dogs like the flavour and will not eject powder but may spit out a tablet. Make sure the dog has nothing to eat or drink for 15 minutes before and at least 15 minutes after ( longer the better) giving any homeopathic remedy. Tip the tablet out of the container onto the spoon, dont handle it at all. If you drop it throw it away and get a fresh one. As long as the dog gets most of it, dont worry, there is no need to give another dose if you drop some powder on the floor. Hope this helps.
