It isnt that easy. The advice is was given was to go to shows get to know breeders get them to be confident with you  that then you may be able to be put on a list of a reputable breeder. It takes some time and a lot of research and certainly not something that can be done in five minutes.
There are lots of people out there who claim to be breeder poms but a true pom and one suitable for showing will take a lot longer to find.
The sort of figures that I was discussing were in the order of £1000
I am sure soon some pom breeders will be on to give you first hand advice

Have been to a few shows, the cost seems to vary hugely, so just wanting to know how much I should really be expecting for a good quality Pom.I know ones on certain websites aren't of the quality that I wd. require.

As this is a breed that has small litters, it would really help if you showed that you were "worthy" of a show quality pup.  Go to some breed shows, and make friends with the people showing.  You will get a feel for the right people, and soon see which lines you like best.

Any adverts for this breed, I would guess are probably not from show lines.  Most reputable Pom breeders will not be advertising, as they will have people waiting for a pup, from a bitch that hasn't even been mated yet.

If you genuinely want to show, you will definitely need to go on a waiting list.  Show Poms are not 10 a penny!  :-)  I would expect to pay £800 - £1,000.
The hurrier I go - the behinder I get!

As I said I have been going to shows, but the quotes I've had have been around your lowest quote and double that, so as you can see there's quite a big variant in what I've been quoted.

In your position I would be looking t which bloodlines appeal to you most from those dogs that are enjoying success in the show ring.

After that the price is the price, and if it's what you want you pay it.

Again because litters are so small breeders can afford not to sell any of the pups and can afford to cherry pick potential new owners, do making friends and contacts with the people whose dogs most interest you is the only way to be reasonably sure fo getting the quality your looking for.

It may also be the case that the higher prices quoted may actually be used to put off buyers that the breeder doesn't need.

i agree with Barbara  you need to know what lines appeal to you and go from there. contact them and if need be put your name down for a pup if they accept you.
love me love the dogs
