brie on day 52 from her first mating, every thing was fine untill 3pm,she was licking herself,i notice a brown discharge,i wipe her with a white tissue notice it was brown, with flicks in it,rush her to the vets, could be a dead puppy,or puppys,or a infection, but was a bit worry,if the puppy come know the ones live would not surive,so put her on antibotices, back friday,if worse to go back straigth away, she still eating only food she likes, not drinking to much, her temp was up 1o2.put that could have been stress, she gone from 26kg to 33.4kg,he could not belive how much milk she got in already,
1,has anyone had puppy early and been ok,and what was the date,eg 56 they could survie,
2,if a dead puppy should we go straigth for a cesarean,if the rest ok,
i think she going to be scann if all ok untill friday, finger cross,
this is my only second litter the most import is her, heath first,

a very worried

No decent info I'm afraid- I'm just not knowledgeable/experienced enough:( But I really do send you the very best of luck and wishes;) Could your vet not do a scan or anything to see if they can tell anymore? Please keep us up to date with how she's doing;)

Hi Terri, I have had pups born three days early, ie 60 days and all have been fine. However all the dog books say that pups are capable of surviving after day 53, but have not had an personal experience of this.
Your second question is a bit more complicated. This is just how I would do things, vet permitting of course. If the first pup was born dead after a very long labour, or she had comlications getting it out, I would ask for a c sect. If the pup was born dead after a normal labour and quick delivery, the chances are the rest will follow OK. I would ask your vet his /her opinion. It may well depend on the number of pups your bitch is carrying. If it is a large litter, say 9 or more, and the first one is a problem, it would probably be easier for her to have the op done. Wishing you all the best, please keep us informed. x

the vet didnot wanted to stress her out or do any inturnals,or scann, incase it was a infection and not a dead puppy,so that why he waiting untill friday when the date is better for survial, she as eaten well this morning and had a good night, she resting under the desk in the office at the moment, which she like this place as a puppy so i think and she think this is where the puppy can be born,i donot care where their born has long has she ok first then the puppies,

thank you all for writing i keep you all inform,

love from a very sad terri

Hi, I have had live puppies born during the night of the 57/58th day, if you see what I mean and they were fine.If she is going to whelp normally I would get a tube of that stuff that is squirted in new borns mouths to help with breathing - my c section pups are all given this at birth - I think its called Dopram, I do hope all goes well for you both.

H Terri, glad to hear she`s had a restful night. Forgot to say when my pupps were born they were all fine. Don`t know if you`ve thought of this but Vit C is very good for stress & boosting the immune system, either in the form of calcium or sodium ascorbate as its more gentle on the tum than ascorbic acid & can`t do any harm. Hope all stays well.

Dear Terri,
My pups were born on the 56th day and I was really worried. My bitch had a perfectly normal labour with no problems and had seven puppies. One died after 24 hours but I think we would have lost him anyway as he was so much smaller than the other six. All the puppies are now nearly a year old and are doing great.I hope everything works out for you,
Best Wishes for you and your girl,
Amy
