As some of you know I have a rare breed. I have had 2 litter's from one bitch, her first at nearly 3 yrs. and her second at 6 years. I wanted to have one more litter from her as our breed has rec. had a lovely dog imported who would have gone brilliantly with her but unfortunately she didn't have her seasons when expected.

Well I sent off my form to the KC to see if I could have a litter. I have been told that their first meeting to see if this is ok is in Sept. 1 month before she is 8 and then the second meeting to confirm this is in Oct. 2 weeks after her 8th birthday. Guess what, she has now come into season and the pups will be due 2 weeks after her 8th birthday and I don't know what to do!!

Can anyone advise me re. this. Has anyone else tried to have a litter once their bitch was 8. Do you know anyone in the KC who would be able to advise me on this?

Please help.

Oh and by the way I don't want this litter to make money if I did I would just mate her and sell the pups, this litter would be good to further the breed in this country.

I would ring the KC up as soon as possible and try to get an answer asap. Sorry never had to deal with this aspect of the KC!

I believe when the rule first came in the KC did say it could be waved in extenuating circumstances but as to who to talk to? I can only suggest you pour yourself a glass of something calming, sit yourself down in your favourite chair and prepare to spend the morning on the phone being shuffled from department to department.

All i know is that they will only consider it BEFORE the mating, if you go ahead & hope for the best, you have had it!
Good luck
