Hi all
My brother in law has aquired a cat from his mother in law - don't ask why. He is however allergic to cats so for the past four weeks has been suffering hay-fever type symptoms. I know there are now some preparations that you can apply to the pet in question that reduces the allergens. I have found one called Petal Cleanse, they do one for dogs and one for cats, and is based on Rosemary oils. I thought I had seen more somewhere on this board but can't find where.
Does anyome know of any other similar products and where we can get them from.
Thanks
Pam n co
Don't know of anything you can apply to the pet but I do know that ainsworths homeopathic pharmacy offer medicine for human's who are allergic to cat's and dogs. I can't vouch for it personally but it may be worth a try, here is their website

Petalcleanse is made by Bio-Life International Ltd, in Wales, but I dont have any other details, hope this helps, if you do a "search"something may come up, or your vet may have heard of them.
PS. I saw a trade article about Petalcleanse in Dog World, June 29th, so they may be able to give you contact details.Tel: 01233 621877 or editorial@dogworld.co.uk

try piriton from the chemists, for your brother not the cat,its very good for allergy type symptoms
I'm really allergic to cats, but thankfully not dogs!, and I use Benadryl Decongestant. We had a cat for about 6mths and I found Benadryl the only thing that worked. They also do skin wipes which are great for wiping over cat scratches.
I've been told that it is the cats spit that causes the allergic reaction - when they groom themselves it stays on their coats - although I'm not sure how true that is.
HTH,

Cat's are the animals or main allergen around. It's their cat dander and do you know even if you were to sell your cat the allergen can stay in the carpet for up to 2 years!! Scary or what?
