I'm having difficulty finding a supplier of Dr Johns in Berkshire. The manufacter, Gilbertson & Paige don't seem to have a website. Any help appreciated.

Give them a phone on Monday. It's 01707-637900. I had got the number from SaraW on here and called them last Saturday. They took a message as they only have a skeleton staff in at the w/end. They phoned me first thing on Monday with local supplier details.

I picked a bag up that day and Toby loves it. He's never been keen on any other food in the 18months I've had but Dr John's he loves. I was giving him half anf half with his old feeding to introduce it slowly but after 3 days I switched completely because he was only eating Dr John's and leaving his old feed Poops seem fine.

I'm got Dr John's Silver because Toby needs low protein and it same as previous feed (18%). It's about size/shape of flattened kidney beans and is crunchy.
So far, I'm really pleased with it and I think Toby is too :D

I was loathe to change Toby's food because we'd used the previous one for 20 years with the Goldens and Toby seemed to do well on it but he never seemed to like it with "no extras". I thought it was just him "at it" because TT's can certainly starve theirselves if they think there's ANY chance of getting something better:)

He's not had any extras in his meal for a fortnight and just picked at the last food which was Muesli type feeding. I know it's still early days since he's only had Dr John's since Monday but I can't believe how keen he is for it (and no extras). The protein etc is basically the same as the previous feed. There is slightly more oil in the Dr John's so I don't know if that's attracting him more. Poops were a touch soft the first day but I'd expect that with a change and so far been fine since. So far, I'd certainly recommend Dr John's

I know that I am going off the thread a bit, but I have had awful problems with Dr Johns. I changed my dog over to it during the summer after a friend reccommended it to me to help my dog gain weight, as hers fill out lovely on it. Bought a bag and then spent the next 4 weeks back and forward to the vet, as he developed the most awful skin problems. When I read up about what actually goes into dog food I was horrified. Seems that he had a reaction to the preservatives that are used within it, although they are used in all dog food, I think that Dr Johns was a bit much for him to handle. Anyways, he is on a natural diet now and has gained weight lovely. Don't want to put anyone off of the food as I know that it is wonderful for most dogs, just not mine. He's always been awkward!!!!

Hi Tommy. I was enquiring because I found that a number of large kennels with my breed, use this food. Rough Collies, can have skin problems, although my lot are OK, and this food seemed to suit them well.
I am only looking for a backup food, but appreciate you posting your experience. I will bear it in mind.
