Dog with No Name

Who will take this dog with no name? Will anybody? it seems such a shame.
He seems very old to me, with cloudy eyes that struggle to see
They said they didn’t know who’s he was
That was a lie , you could tell because
He started after them when they walked out
he panicked not knowing what it was all about
They signed him in without backward glance
would anyone give this old boy a chance?

Discarded ,maybe for a Christmas pup
I call to him, he looks up
Well lets go old fella and seal your fate!
I hesitate at the kennel gate
No Wait ! I‘ll take you home with me
Age is not on your side you see.

Who will take this dog with no name?

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE - give warnings in posting headings that a sad post is to follow - why do I read these just after putting my makeup on!!! I still cry if I read the large post a while ago regarding a dog being pts in an American Dog Rescue!!!

Hope Rhum realises what a lucky dog he is! Not that he thinks so this morning as the heating went off during the night - got up to find him buried under his duvet!

Sorry Shirley as with most of my poems I dont know where they come from they just arrive in my head but the strange thing is that after writing that yesterday heres what happened:
1. A man rang to ask me to take in a Labrador said he had found him in the garden and that he couldnt keep him ! for a found dog he seemed to know a heck of a lot about the dog
2. We were called to a stray kennel where a beautiful yellow lab was due to be put down today (7 days up) this dog is only about 5yrs the dog warden know the owners (who have had him since a pup) but they didnt come forward for him and left him to his fate. Is it the time of year? yes it is ...

I just a sophead when it comes to animals and I get so mad about cruelty - I could do to humans what they do to animals! Tried to get onto your site, but server was down, or something. I'll try later. What will become of the Lab? Did you take it in? Met a woman up the woods today with a 4 year old rescue black Lab - he was lovely and really obedient. She said he'd been put into a rescue kennel at 2 years old - just wish the owners "who couldn't cope" could see him now. I cannot understand people who give up just cos the dog is a bit naughty - perhaps if they understood training a bit better and if they could just get past the "teenage" few months, they would have discovered the wonderful dog I saw today.

Yes we have him and we will get him a good home.

The trouble with some people is they want instant results and Labs take some time to mature,they can be quite hard work but the end result is worth it.
I have noticed a difference with my new pup Ned he is a german wirehaired pointer and he has been so different to a Lab he isnt as boisterous or as clumsy,he is so graceful in his manner and he hates me to shout he creeps around me if I am annoyed with him for something.He had one disaster where he chewed the arm of the suite but since then nothing (oh except for the wire off the shredder )
Oh and a shoe LOL

Anyway Labs can be hard work and thats one of the reasons people discard them.

Yip, my Vizslas the same - hates me being annoyed, although its usually with the kids! Yelled at one of them this morning and the dog disappeared quick to the garden! Then I feel guilty as it was nothing to do with him......but can't let my kids off too lightly, dog or not LOL!!!

Youngest daughter (8) decided to sprinkle glitter all over the dog to make him Christmassy - didn't work it out first that the glitter wouldn't stick and that the dog would wander about the house..........
