i remember reading a website a little whlie ago which had a list of which foods aren't manufactured by companies who engage in animal testing, but i can't for the life of me remember the site name!!! Does anyone know where i can find a list like that? i've finally found a food that agrees with Speed's VERY sensitive digestion and doesn't cost the earth, and i really want to know if it's a cruelty free brand!!

none!!......just think of all those poor little mice who have been poisoned to death just so they don't eat the grain in the silo's, thats gone into your "cruelty-free" dog food.

Hi Annette - just had a nosey at your site! Lovely dogs! Have you tried Burns , It is a holistic complete food and not tested on animals, I did have my lot on it but it didn't suit Decoy, so I have changed to autarky. Have a look at the site http://www.burns-pet-nutrition.co.uk - it very good for dogs with dicky tums! CookieMonster (GSD/Collie) did really well on it, he was a rescue who was really under nourished. But as I like to feed all of mine the same, it a hassle ordering from all different sources for me , I have switched him over onto Autarky too, and he is doing fine on that as well. HTH Julie:)

i thought about trying Burns, it sounds like a fab food and when you read through the ingredients list that does confirm how good it is, but i can only just run to the food they're on at the moment [it's Burgess Supadog Active and it's only £11.99 for a 15 kilo bag]. i'm feeding them both a LOT more than dogs their size need for maintenence, because they both need to put on some weight. i think when they're both up to their ideal size i'll switch them to either Wafcol or Burns. Both are in our local Pets at Home.
BIG thankyou to Lynsey for that link - i had no idea Chappie would be on the Cruel list My vet recommended that when Speed first came to us!!! i'm glad she didn't get on with it!! The Bonios as well will have to go, bad breath or not!!
i think i'm just going to try and find Burgess' site and ask them outright whether or not they support/condone/engage in animal testing.

Hi Annette, I thought Burns was expensive £31 ish for 15kg, but you feed a lot less and it actually works out cheaper (I used to feed Skinners and burns lasted twice as long) That was one of the reasons I stopped using it, as Decoy is so greedy he needs to have big bowls to make him feel full up, the Burns was tiny portions and he used to look at me as if to say 'well I had the starters and I am ready for the main course!' It really doesn't work out any cheaper it'd be about £24 for two weeks for the both of them. With Supadog it's half that. i know it doesn't sound like a lot extra and believe me i'd LOVE to be able to afford it, but until my other half can get another job we're stuck with the cheapest possible option. i have just emailed Burgess and *hopefully* they'll reply today and put my mind at ease with regards to the animal testing...

Right!! i just got a mail back from Burgess and this is what it says:
"..Just to let you know that we do not carry out any animal testing of our
products.
Any new products are developed in consultation with Veterinary and Nutritional
advisors.
The only testing we do is "taste" testing of our products with our regular
customers, and obviously their animals, to check that our products are
palatable.

i'm so relieved!! Might send an email to Uncaged so they can put Burgess' info up on their site. I think it's fantastic that there's such a cheap food available that is cruelty free :D :D :D

The Uncaged website recommends Chudleys, which is £8.99 for 15 kilos. Each dog gets 300g per day, so it works out really cheap, the dogs look good on it and my picky eater spaniel wolfs it down. I would recommend it.
