Hi Everyone,

I know Iams have come up before on this board as I was just reading through past threads. We recently changed our staffie Saxon to Iams from pedigree as he seemed to get bad wind from the meat :D. After reading more about Iams I think we made a bad choice, I had no idea the company tested on animals.
Can anyone recommend a good food for our staffie please thats not tested on animals? We have a Pets at Home near us so can get hold of a lot of brands.

Thanks Lel but I was also wondering what adult staffie owners feed their dogs. Saxon is excitable and I know too much protein in the diet can make this worse.

After speaking to our breeder , she recommended Eukanuba ( even after all the criticism or James Wellbeloved )

Iams and Eukanuba are basiacally the same product in differant bags.

Yep Iams and Euk are the same company - I thought it used to be called Iams in states, and Eukanuba here, although I think the cat food here was always Iams, unless they changed the name after all the kidney trouble it caused in cats!!! Can you tell - Im not a fan! Julie:)

Oh my..I've just read that Iams test on animals...thats a disgrace!
Can anyone recommend a puppy food alternative?

Arden Grange puppy is brilliant. I've raised 3 litters on it and the pups have been very solid and chunky without being fat!

Have to agree, bu5t myself with a medium sized breed, prefered to use their Prestige, which is their high protein food for hard working dogs, in whelp bitches, and growing dogs.

James Welbelloved is a very good food - it's all natural and easily available in local pet shops.

Also have a look at Nutro. It's not as easily avilable as JW but can be bought online from BluePet.

Forgot to say - both JW and Nutro provide free samples

Skinners do a fantastic range and at the moment all my dogs are on Ruff and Ready. I wouldn't touch Iams or the likes with a barge pole, heard way too many bad things about them.
