Anyone know where I can purchase a meat/bone grinder from for chicken carcasses mainly?

This is not actually recommended for grinding up bone but many people use this one for this purpose

I just wondered if anyone knows if the Northern Tool grinder would cope with grinding rabbit bones? i contacted Northern Tools and they said it won't grind any bones but I understand that alot of people do use them for chicken wings etc. I just wanted to know before I forked out ~£80! I have seen that there are some other similarly priced grinders (by Moulinex [DKA2 or DKA14 or HV8 or HV3?], or Breville), and wondered if anyone has any of these and can comment on them for bone grinding ability.

I have the Northern Tool grinder - I've only ever tried it with chicken wings, although I've heard that it will do turkey as well. It did manage to grind the wings although was fairly slow and seemed to have moments when it was struggling. The hole that you put the food it to be ground is narrow (not sure of the measurements offhand, approx. 2 maybe 2 1/2 inches) so you'd have to saw up anything bigger than that before putting it in and, saying that, I'm not convinced it would manage anything harder than chicken bones anyway, so I'd probably go with a no to your question!

Thanks Zarah, that has saved me £80cool. I'm going to ask my butcher to do the honours for me I think instead!

yes I have used it for grinding up rabbits for puppies, you need to chop the rabbit ( or any meat really) into about one inch pieces, it does cope but slowly. I found that i could really only do 2 bunnies at a time before it got clogged up and needed cleaned out.
Hope that helps
