i have a 16 week old welsh terrier dog and am concerned about his habit of eating his faeces. His diet is dry food (Hill's Science). Any tips or advise welcomed

There is something that you can get from your vet (sorry but I just can't remember the name of the stuff) that you put in their food for I think about three days and Hey Presto they no longer eat faeces, or so they say ! Never had that problem with any of my dogs so I don't know if it works or not. I think it cost 7 pounds (don't have a pound sign on this computer either that or I just can't find it !!). The only other way I was told to stop it was to pick up right away. Hope this is of some help.

Try putting pineapple in his food - heard that this can go both ways. Either the dog will just want to eat it even more, or they will be turned off by it. Either way, it's worth a try.

That doesnt work, i tried that as my old bitch is the queen of eating crap in fact i tried most things and nothing worked apart from keeping a very close eye on her and as soon as the head went down shout very loud, she did look at me as if to say who me i wasnt doing anything wrong, yeah not much:D

The stuff you can get from the vet is called 'Deter'. I can't say it was a miracle cure - you have to be right behind your dog and get it before he does. My 18 month old lab still has this foul habit, although she is better.

A dog I had the same problem. Not a problem for her, but sure was for me! She ate both her own and my other dogs feces. I literally tried everything. Even sprinkling hot cayene pepper on the feces. Did not help. Only thing that worked was removing the temptation as quickly as possible. She gradually grew out of it.

Even so, even at nearly 13 years old, ... if I put down organic pelleted chicken manure as a garden fertilizer, she was in heaven. :-)
