my sisters 10 month old border collie has started to chew the artex off their walls. its not through bordom as he has a huge range of toys he is a bright alert and healthy dog so its a complete mystery as to why. i know that when our jack russell was a pup he chewed right through our artex and the vet thought it might be a mineral deficiency and to give him a vitamin and mineral supplement which we did and no more chewing but that was due to the neglect of the breeder we bought him to save him and spent a small fortune putting him right hes now a healthy happy 4 yr old. my sisters bc is from a good breeder and has been vet checked and vaccinated so someone please help!( before they have no walls left )

Does she give him all his toys? maybe take them all away and give one or two. then the next day take those away and give him a different toy. This way the toy is always new and hopefully no bordom. Fill a kong when they are unable to keep a close eye on him, and put something on the wall like bitter apple (that never worked for me we used hotsauce).
Good luck

Dogs eat stuff like artex because it tastes good to them.

Cure is to make it impossible for them to get to the artex. If it is in a confined area, even putting up sheets of clear plastic for a time might work to break the habit.

A Yorkie I had used to go after mice inside the house walls. In her digging through the plasterboard to get at the mice she acquired a taste for plaster, unfortunately. Even up to the time she died at 13 years of age, she would occassionally start to lick a wall and then grind at the plaster with her teeth. As I type this I am looking at a small white patch on a blue wall, my Yorkie died in August and it is a small reminder to me of her presence.

Oh .. I learned not to use wallpaper and always kept extra paint around. :-)
