Sice we've had our boxer (she's now 10 month), finding her a food that she likes which doesn't upset her stomach has been a nightmare.

Basically she loves tinned food and eats every scap, but it gives her diarrehea, so for the past 3 months we've been feeding her James Wellbeloved as somebody suggested this was good for dogs with sensitive stomachs. The only problem is that she hates it. She won't eat it, unless I add a little bit of tinned with it, and then she spits out all the biscuits on the floor.

On the recommendation of a friend, we were hoping to change her over to Naturediet and have done gradually over about 3 weeks. She loves it and we see an empty bowl every day, however we've got the same problem of diarrehea again. Can anyone suggest a solution for us.

The problem is that she does tend to eat anything and everything that's on the floor, including cow pats, horse manure and duck/rabbit poo. Maybe it isn't the food but these things? When we're out walking, we just can't stop her!!!

Here goes Sarah, you'll now get 20 different suggestions and will be none the wiser :D

My suggestion is Nutro Lamb & Rice, had a dog that was prone to looseness as a puppy (on JW), changed her to Nutro and have never had a problem since.

I feed my Boxers on Nutro, the Chicken & Rice variety (adult formula) and am very pleased
with the results.
Another good tip is to give them a teaspoon of natural live yoghurt on their food, this helps
settle their tummies.
All dogs can be different what is good for one may not work for another, but on the whole
I have found pleasing results with Nutro. They will do a puppy formula too.

With regard to poo eating my youngest as a puppy used to dig up cat-poo and eat it (YUK)
but she's grown out of this disgusting habit (phew, cat-poo breath is disgusting) She's now 18 months
and although still has her 'moments' I wouldn't change her for the world :D

Hi Sarah - I have a 9month old Boxer and I have raised him on a totally raw diet, more commonly known as Barf. It has suited him to a tee. He has never had diahorreah or any tummy problems and he eats whatever he is given. I also have a 7 yr old lurcher that had suffered with tummy problems on and off since we got her at 8 wks old. I put her on to raw food about a yr ago and we've not had a problem since. Also, the lurcher was a real poo eater, infact I am sure she used to think her walk was a Poo Hunt, she has not eaten poo since I changed her to raw. I can only recommend raw feeding through personal experience and it is not to everyones liking. I have a 12 month old male boxer. I had the same problem and i've tried every food available and the best that i've discovered is iams for big to large breed. My boxer loves it and always eats it, he never gets the runs either.
