I have a yorkie who is about 3wks. pregnant. She has been sick a couple times. The past few days she just picks at her food.I did give her some cottage cheese, which she ate immediatly. She likes raw carrots, apples, and potatoes. Does any one have any other tricks they use to get their pregnant dogs to eat? Any suggestions would be appriciated.

I just added warm water to their food and mixed it all together, don't know why but she loved her food this way.
Mine went off her food for a bit in the beginning but back to normal in a couple of days. I'm sure they are like people may get sick and not much of an appitite but will pick up later (mine did this).

Thanks, I'll try that also.
Hi Missy,
Hopefully you will find this is only a temperary thing, a bit of morning sickness. But at a time like this, I think you can spoil them a bit and try tasty things like tuna, just cooked chicken (slightly cooled, but still smelling Yummy) anything you can tempt her to eat really and hopefully in a week or two she will have a good appitite back, but this is not always the case, I have had a few that have stayed fussy the whole 9 weeks.

Thanks, today I've been giving her all the things she usually gets as treats and she's been eating ok. I think we'll be ok. Thanks for all the information and support.

Millie, What breed do you have?
Your welcome. My breeds are Rough Collies and Whippets. I have had the collies for 15yrs but the whippets are quite a new breed for me, getting my first one 3 years ago and having my first litter last year, which I must say went far more easier than any of my Collie litters. (Could write a book on all the problems I have had with them) Hope everything goes well for you and keep us posted.

Rice pudding was my tip for this, my pregnant girl ate little else for most of her pregnancy - couldn't stomach anything meaty!
