Chat rooms are ok if used properly
but unfortunetly they sometimes turn into a den of gossip and spite and cause more trouble then they are worth
Also when you have a chat board the reason for the forum seems to disappear and the boards are bereft of advice
So best not have one really
this is a good forum and I imagine a chat board would ruin it
Just my op Mari

I agree Marie:) I should imagine too that the problem with a chat room is moderating it- I mean at least you can stop/pull the plug on things said on a forum but not a chat room- unless you live in it:)

I worry very much about the unkindness that goes on on the internet having made some wonderful friends via the net when I see the other side to it it makes me really sad I think people should realise that we are still people and sometimes find harsh treatment hard to bear especailly as some of us have our own problems to deal with as well. :-( Chat rooms are Ok when they keep a small amount of like minded people chatting about there favourite subject ie: Dogs, but when spite creeps in its very sad.
Champdogs did actually have a chatroom at one time .
Some of us are on msn messenger and meet up there for a chat its quite nice you can natter whilst nosying around other places too :-) :-) :-)

I agree with Mattie and Stacey ...and at least with MSN or Yahoo you can *choose* who you talk to ;-)

Yes, chat rooms seem to be the beginning of the end.

I certainly think the Champdogs Chat Room was the beginning of the end of the old Champdogs. As others have said, MSN is a gathering of friends but chat rooms can easily end up with trouble.

CD is the best dog site with nice people who care about dogs and give good advice - I would have been lost when I first got my two without it - no chat means no gossip/lies and trouble - lets keep it as it is without a chat board. :-)

And some of us who are in work all day (:-() can't access the messengers or chat rooms so this is a great site :-)

I'd get the sack if I used my work PC for non-work purposes :-( Strictly a no-no in most office environments - my husband sacked his office manager last year for looking at internet sites during office hours.

We can look at the net when we are on lunch or a break - I did have the net at home but we don't have time to use it really since we got our mal :-)
It is useful to have in work though, and I do have e-mails too so it's not all bad
