Do any of the Barf exponents have any experience of problems with weight control whilst using a Barf diet?

This was my main worry when I switched from a complete 3 years ago. However, I soon realised that I could judge fairly well how much to give. Just know your dog well and if you think that they are getting a bit thin - give more and if a bit too heavy give less ! Should really be the same as any food - giving the amount shown on the packet for complete can be just as wrong as well It is always better to keep them a bit on the thin side. I think that there is a formula based on a % of the dog's weight, but I prefer to judge it by 'eye' My older dog keeps a very steady weight - I weigh him if I have to go to the vets and it changes by very little.

I find that my eldest dog has stayed the same weight since he has been on the barf diet. When he was on commercial food he did get a little fat. Now he only eats what he needs, if he tries to bury anything then I cut him down for a few days. he is not a greedy dog. Hard to tell with my pup yet at the moment he looks terrific with a beautiful bloom on his coat, again he is not greedy on the barf diet and will often leave a little, he is certainly winning well enough in the show ring.

Hi L/D, I`ve found it easier to control their weight on the raw diet than when they were on complete.
