hi sarah,
we own four dogs, two lurchers one of which is a bedlington/whippet/greyhound who is called "barry" and he has been a problem for us if you really want a lurcher and know nothing about them, please dont buy a bedlington.
if you really want a lurcher i can suggest going to see DAVID HANCOCK who is a highly respected lurcher breeder in the midlands.
we have have a female dog that was bred by Mr.Hancock and she is a greyhound/bearded collie/border collie and she is an outstanding lovely dog.
so best of luck!x

There are hundreds and hundreds of lurchers needing homes at rescues all over the UK.
We adopted Sky from Tia in West Yorkshire, if you need details of a lurcher or greyhound rescue (they usually cover both) in your area, please email me and I can get you some info.
There are usually lurchers and greyhounds in NCDL and RSPCA centres too, you dont have to go to a breed specific rescue.
Of course, these will be for pet homes.
Lisa

do not want to offend anyone but, in my opinion there are lots of lurchers that need loving homes without going to a puppy farmer such as hancock!, money orientated.  will breed anything to anything to create a litter for sale.  as far as respect goes he is low on my list.  i say this owning a first cross collie greyhound, and owning a three quarter whippet quarter bedlington.  bedlington crosses make lovely dogs, out of experience.  loyal, obedient, easy to train.  even for an inexperienced handler.  collie crosses in my experience are very hard work for inexperienced handlers.  generally slow to mature, head strong due to the intelligence of the dog. they also do not age aswell as the bedlington crosses, as they are larger dogs and much heavier. hip and joint problems can occur as age creeps in, aslo cataract issues.  best of luck with finding one talk to different ppl before making any decisions i would suggest.  sorry if any one doesnt like some of the comments.

You've responded to a 6-year old thread!   Why??????
Treat every stressful situation as a dog would. Pee on it and walk away
