I'm looking into buying an Akita but have a few concerns before doing so:

I have 2 cats - would that cause a problem if I got an Akita puppy ?

Both me and my partner work full time - which would leave us to be able to walk the dog in a morning, evening and at weekends only: Is an Akita very active and demanding like a Collie Sheep Dog, in which it needs to be out ALL the time and running around ?

I'm not looking for a thoroughbred as i'm wanting the dog as a pet only and not for 'shows'.. therefore are there places who sell non-thorough's and where might I look to find them - as they never advertise in my local paper in York.

Any advice appreciated.
