I found an excellent site here :
RLS
Second year of Foundation Degree started
Yes I have it.Through a process of elimination I discovered it was my asthma inhalers.Salbutamol and Salmeterol being the offenders(aka Ventolin and Serevent)
I changed my inhaler to a combination Preventer/reliever called Symbicort and... Hey Presto...no more restless legs

Hey,

THAT WAS AN INTERSTING TIP. I'LL TRY IT

Have seen this site and yes has got alot of useful info ! I am however wanting to get a UK based site if possible but haven't had any luck.
It is for Mike my husband who is suffering from it ever since I found out I was pregnant. I gave up the booze and fags straight away when it was confirmed and he decided he would join me doing the same to keep me company and ever since then the RLS has happened ! Amazing that giving something up that is supposed to be bad for you can result in a condition that is really quite a pain. He is really suffering and can often be seen pacing up and down at night to try and help the symptoms. Everybody has said to start drinking again but he is so determined to stay off as he said that he has promised to stop with me and he will stick with it !

Well your doing a bl***dy marvelous job then....changing to symbicort has changed my life.I haven't had to use a blue releiver for about 6-8 months now

Have you seen on the news this re homeopathic remedies for asthma in children have now been proved not to work.

Hi try the net doctor site theres a piece by Hilary Jones on RLS on it - I didn't read it though so dont know how good it is

Thanks Liz. It has given me a bit more info as it has a help group based in the UK, not the US as most of them seem to be !
Not alot that can be done by the look of it so Mike will have to continue to do the pacing up and down at night. He is having acupuncture to see if that will help. Three weeks and no improvement yet !

Hi - Good luck with the acupuncture--the pacing now will get him in practise for when the baby comes

and good luck with the 'bump'

Thanks Liz !
We have thought it might be a sub concious thing as well in preperation of the bump !! We found out it was a girl bump last week, a big girl bump from what the scan has shown ! :D

I have times when I don't know what to do with my legs but I have discovered that if I massage them with Lavender oil or Lavender Lotion my legs relax. I find it usually happens at night and of course lavender helps me to sleep as well. Always massage legs towards the heart.

We have tried the Lavender massage and it sent Mike into turbo mode !
Did you find this at first and then it calmed down ?

No sorry it worked straight away.
PS what was his turbo mod like!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In Sainsburys I also found on the mother and baby shelves (while I was looking for nappy sacks - for poo bags) I found something called Skin Wisdom Mother 3 in 1 leg serum. This is a moisturiser and it contains Chamomile ,Aloe Vera, Horse Chestnut and witch hazel for legs and that helped as well. It says it will cool, soothe and 'tone' tired aching legs and feet.
Hi Lucy
Just found this link you might find useful, hope it helps
Medic Direct There's a disorder section at this site.

I have this as well...on and off. It is very annoying and stops you from falling asleep. I have strange feelings in my arms and shoulders as well...like I want to keep stretching them. I was suprised to find out that restless leg syndrome can also be felt in the arms and torso. I suppose its more common in the legs.I have no idea what causes it or cures it. Fortunately I don't have it too often so it never bothers me to any great degree but I have sympathy with anyone who has it all the time.
