Would anyone who has experience of dogs being made ill through chocolate like to help me with my research? It could save lives!

Our dog had to have his stomach pumped out a couple of years ago, through eating a very large quantity of chocolate (one very large box of Belgian chocolates and a large box of chocolate gingers plus 1/2 an Advent calendar )- he wasn't at all ill and had no after affects. Is that any help ?

Sure, I'm researching a magazine feature. We want to warn our readers not to give their dogs chocolate. I just wondered if anyone would be interested in relating their own experiences for their benefit?

My lab got into some Christmas chocolate -- not very much, probably half a chocolate bar, and it gave him the worst diarrehea possible. Not to be gross, but I've never seen anything like it! We were staying at my boyfriend's parent's home, and he needs to sleep in a crate there. When I went to get him out in the morning, we found him covered in his own feces, and it was pooled all around the crate. I felt terrible for him (although I didn't hear him cry during the night, which I'm not sure why). We took him to the vet that day, and it took a couple of days for him to get back to normal.
