Can anyone help? My miniature bull terrier has an obsession with shadow movement. If the sunlight comes through the windows then it becomes impossible to break his attention away from it. He will sit and stare at the walls and floors for ages until it moves, when it does move it is a massive acheivement for him and he breaks away for a split second and then finds another one. Bull Terriers can suffer with Lens luxation (maybe not spelled correctly) but I have been told that this doesn't usually appear until they are about 4 years old.

Does anyone have any suggestions!!

Hi Sally,

I also had this problem with my Border Collie for a very long time and even now he will still look for shadows to some degree.

What worked for me was using the leave command.
What I did was make shadows on the wall myself and then tell the BC to leave and then I gave plenty of praise when he listened to the command.

I will say this is not something that will improve over night you need to be consistant with the training.

Hope this helps.

Karen

I breed and show bull terriers, what you are describing is a kind of obsessive behaviour which they sometimes can suffer from. Karen has given you good advice and the quicker you stop this behaviour the better. Otherwise he may go much worse.
