just interested what you all pay for your dogs injections we take ours to a pet vacination clinic in birmingham and they charge £6.00 for the first part and £15.00 for the second also includes a health check and for £12.00 you can be microchipped for lifetime registration .hows that for a price good or bad?

I got the injections for £20 and microchipped for £15, I think it's roughly the same at most vet's, I remember a few years ago whin microchipping first became available or talked about and my neighbour paid £55.

Must admit, your clinic sounds extremely cheap but I'm going on prices that are two years old. If I recall correctly, we got ours vaccinated for everything going (including leaukemia which used to be an optional extra) and the total cost after both sessions, was £80 each.

We got them micro chipped at six months and that was £20.00 per animal, be it cat or dog.

At any rate, £18.00 is a drop in the ocean compared to what you will pay if you're dog goes down with a disease that could've been prevented/vaccinated against. There are also grotty, mangy, bin raiding foxes that pass on canine diseases to contend with too.

that is excellent prices, and even more so for the Microchip. It costs Approx £6 for the chip to the vet never mind cleaning , wipes and time.

Most places average £44-£50 for the vaccines.

You are very lucky to have a vet that reasonable.

We have one here in Fife that is excellent and cheaper than most , £17 for micro chipping and £24 for vaccines that is half the price of our large local vet.

You are spoilt. Puppy jabs around here (Bristo9l) are normally £55 and boosters aroung £25-£30.

The vaccs clinic here does boosters at £18 and puppy jabs used to be £25 but as the boosters have gone up £3 maybe the puppy ones have too!

Remember, you won't be able to put your dog in kennels should you need to go away/ on holiday unless you've got a record of the dog's up to date vaccinations. (You'll need to include kennel cough, which used to be an extra)

Not all kennels require kennel cough vaccinantions ! Best to check !

I know as I do not like giving my girls the vaccine as they had a bad reaction with it once and I was lucky enough to find an excellent kennels near us that did not insist that they were covered !

Sounds extremely cheap to me. There is a local group that do vaccinations here too, for people on benefits, for £20. Annual boosters £15 I think.
I paid roughly £60 for a full set of puppy vaccinations on our old dog (to make sure she was covered). Some charge more, some charge less. Then you have to think of worming, flea treatment (roughly £9 a month), and neutering (about £70-180 depending on sex and area, although there is a voucher scheme through the NCDL for those on means tested benefits) too - not to mention annual check ups (more if there's an underlying problem), dentals, and of course, accidents and illnesses. Our vets charges about £17 for a consultation, medecines on top. Flea or weight checks with a nurse are free.
It can work out at a lot of money, but it's well worth it. I wouldn't skimp on any of it.

In Devon I pay £45 for puppy vacs and £20 for a mircochip. Boosters are £27.

I've just paid out £29 for the full set of first vaccinations for each of my Dane pups A lot of people round nere do microchipping now and they tend to charge about £15.

I paid £33 for a full course for my cocker puppy, our vets usually charge £20 to chip although they have a special offer on to keep in line with the competition, around £12.

I usually buy my vaccines from a vet in Lincoln but ran out and wanted my dog done straight away,normally I pay £8 for a booster and £14 for the full course, all my own bred pups are vaccinated against Parvo at 6 weeks at a cost of £5 per puppy. My own vet quoted me £15 per puppy about 5 years ago for Parvo C.

I also do my own micro-chipping too and the chips vary from £5.50 each to £7/50 each depending on quantity purchased. I trained to implant and now send my pups of to their new homes ,microchipped and parvo vaccinated for a mere £10 per puppy, and they are still vet checked before they go.

I don't reccomend you all go out and try to purchase vaccines to jab your own dogs as you need to know what you are doing, my point is isn't it about time these vets re-assed how much they are charging for their services and it makes you think that some people just can't afford these prices.

I have just paid £101 for two dogs to be fully vaccinated, both after a gap of 5+ years, and the third only needed a booster after a gap of 4+ years.

Five weeks ago, I paid £40 for the course of 2 puppy injections (and the pup was checked over at the same time). I got him microchipped at the same time as the second vaccination and was charged £17.50 - this is usually £27.50 on it's own.

i would just like to point out this is a normal vet and not one who does it cheap cuz you are on benefits ,the vet tells me she is being hounded by other vets because she is cheap. what a disgrace .also i would pay what ever i had too to keep them free of harm.

When you think that it only costs about 6 pounds for the vacc's from Ireland, I just paid £40 to have my pup vaccinated!!

Judging by everybodys posts I think its a very competitive price. Recently we paid £25 for the pup's injections - that covered the first visit where the vet checked him over and gave him his 1st injection - then the 2nd was given to him by a vet nurse. Our vets is known to be expensive in the area - maybe for set procedure such this its very reasonable, just to get you back next time - then they sting you for all you're worth!!!

I can't believe the range in prices! When you think it is all the same products
its ridiculous. Whilt we are on the subject, what about spaying? Am due to get my dog spayed next month and expect to pay £100 - 150. Is it roughly the same everywhere?

Cost of vets bills varies for each operation a friend I know recently paid £1000! yes one thousand pounds :o
For a ceasarian on a Boxer, on a sunday evening not a bank holiday, with no nurses in attendance just the vet and the bitch's
owner and family helping with pups, it was a straightforward ceasarian, no complications.
On speaking to others the most they have paid for a ceasarian is £400-450.
I had a Boxer bitch spayed 10 years or so ago and that was £80, today I shudder to think how much!
Yes some vets do go on size and weight of the dog for spaying/castration costs.
The vaccinations here are around £60 for puppies and approx £30 for boosters.
Guess if you have a few to be done at the same time it may pay you to take the trip to Birmingham
to get them done, and still save some money after you've taken the petrol/diesel into consideration!!

does anyone here not get there dog protected from Kennel cough?

I am not sure if I should get it done or not while I am away for a week.

None of mine have had a Kennel Cough vaccine - there seem to be too many variations of the viruses to make if effective for ordinary day-to-day life. They never go into kennels anyway, and even when we were showing luckily none of them ever caught it.

After a lot of soul searching re boosters, I had took Poppy for her first booster on Sunday......yes, Sunday!
My vet is open 8 to 8,7 days a week, and 9.15 on Sunday morning suited me.
Cost was £34.00, and included a "annual health check."

Probably a bit on the steep side,I thought,..... but yesterday, the Bank Holiday, I noticed Cherry, 13, was squatting and straining continually.
I phoned the vet at 6.15pm, and at 7pm we were in there, having her treated for suspected cystitis.
The consultation, injection to calm things down, and some Lectade to stop her getting dehydrated, came to £31.
This seems to be about the same as if I had taken her on a non- Bank Holiday. (My previous vet used to charge a supplement of around £25 extra for Sundays and Bank Holidays.)

I thought that was good, especially as the old girl seems to be better today.

I'm going to be charged £45 for pup's first injections and £21 for the microchipping. I live in Essex. I'm sure i could get them cheaper elsewhere but the vets I am going to be using come highly recommended. Sometimes you have to pay a little more but know you will get good service. I would always recommend always asking around.

Never had the boosters - had the puppy vaccinations and that's it - I think yearly vaccinations are a bit of a scam as are the requirement our vet now has to see  a dog on medication every 3 months rather than every 6 as it used to be.  

I'm amazed at such a huge variation in pricing.  I pay £55 for pups first set of jabs, but that does include the microchip - if paid for at the same time.  I think the chip is reduced to £7 - I tend to pay for the lot, but have the chip put in later, due to having such a tiny breed.  However, I'm even more amazed at how low a lot of you pay for a C-section.  I have needed 4 in the last 9 months.  Hasten to add, none of those girls will ever be bred from again.  My bills for the 4 were £1,068 and £904 for 2 out of hours.  The 2 needing help during the day were both £648.  I certainly wouldn't want a large breed if charging is relevant to size!

Last time one of mine needed a C section was in 2001 (thankfully a rare occurrence, only one of mien with her last small litter, and a friends bitch with her first, but she had been ill with gastro and was frankly too pooped to deliver), and it was before 7pm and was around £500. 

In 2006 on Boxing day just for an injection of  antibiotic and pain killer because of emergency mastitis cost me about £250, my own Vets charges the next day with actually dealing with the problem properly were only about £60.

Around here the puppy course of vaccinations is about £60, and Microchipping another £25.

Not sure if this is UK wide, but my Vet at the moment has a Vaccination special offer on of £10.  They also have a "lifelong" deal for £70, which includes the initial course, microchip and then boosters for ever more!  Seems like a great deal if you are sure you will be starying in the same area.

My last C section (2nd ever) was in October, and wal just short of £700 - came as quite a shock, as the only other one, 2 years previously had been almost exactly half that.

Yeah for March only at certain vets they are doing the vaccinations cheap.  A vet round here does them for £24.00, most do them around £41.00!!

I think the puppy course at my vets is about £30.
