As some will already know I am getting a beardie pup soon (can't wait!!).
The breeders are feeding him Beta puppy food, but I've read on this forum that it gives puppies "bowel problems" (putting it nicely!). Can anyone tell me if this is true for beardies and what other food would they recommend?

If your breeder has reared your pup on Beta Pup it is obviously agreeing with him otherwise he would not have got this far :-). My terrier had a history of colitis very badly as a pup (she was reared on a different complete) but we have maintained he well over many years with Beta (she is now 14) which has been very gentle on her tummy so obviously it can be very good for digestive problems too :-)

If I was you I would continue with the Beta and only worry about changing if he develops problems after all if it ain't broke why fix it :-)

I agree if the pup's doing fine on it leave well alone, plenty time to change later if you want to or it becomes necessary. My old Una, 13 now, has a digestion like a garbage disposal, no trouble with any of the foods she has had and a very good doer. Changes have been because other dog needed to and it was easier to have them all on same thing. Changed to raw last August and she is sooo happy.:-D
Meant to ask if you would like some links to Beardie sites

you may have read about my previous problems with it and my last litter. All i will say is that if your pup is ok on it then theres no need to change. If however your pup is very loose on it, then yes, go ahead & change it.

Thanks for your help. Pup is only 3 weeks old. I am due to go and see him next week so I will see how he is.

All my pups are fed on beta puppy and i've never had any probs.amber my 9 week pup was on pedigree chum puppy food when we got her but i've gradually weaned her off it and onto beta and she absolutely loves it.I use little soaked pieces of it for treats too and she's sitting and shaking paws already!!:-)
