Hi,

I have a bitch who whelped a stillborn puppies eight weeks ago now. Three weeks ago she still had a discharge , yellow, thick, didn't smell, but worried we took her to the vet and our vet put her on antibiotics, two weeks later it was still there so we put her on stronger antibiotics, she has been on them for one week now and I noticed the same discharge again last night. The discharge is not always there sometimes it is , sometimes not!!

Back in September of last year we lost a bitch to closed pyo. I'm so scared it will happen again since the vet said it could be that but she didn't feel it was.
She is very happy , crazy , feeling well, in fact she's never been better! The discharge is not smelly, just looks like a normal two week after whelp discharge. I have contacted my vet again today and she is suppose to call me back sometime later.

Anyone have any ideas or experience they could share would be great

Thank you for listening,

Justine Arsenault

Hi Justine,
Would your vet be able to do an ultrasound scan and see if her uterus looks normal? And has she taken a swab of the discharge and cultured it? If it is an infection at least you'll then know which particular antibiotic to use.
Hope it is all well.

Hi
If your vet is sure it is not pyo then ask him about a course of Marbocyl.
This anti-biotic is fantastic for infections in the uterus area.
I had a bitch with open pyo. Her treatment was Prostaglandin followed by a course of Marbocyl. Touch wood the pyo has not returned and that was back in 2000.

Where is the discharge coming from. When I got Roxie at 6 weeks she had a vaginal discharge. I took her to the vet and she was put on antibotics for 10 days and the discharge stopped Two days later the discharge was back and I was reluctant to put her back on the drugs.

I was real new to the technology of Glyconutritionals at the time so i was a litte afraid to put her on the dietary supplement so I just gave her a mininal amount. 2 days on the nutrient the discharge was gone and never returned. That is how we treat our family and pets now with glyconutritionals. I have since learned that they are non-toxic and safe for even infants.
