Does anyone know or have been to see the man who lives in Ayrshire, who is selling various litters of pups of different breeds, that all come from puppy farms over in Ireland?
I believe the SSPCA and the police were investigating this man, but I have recently seen him advertising again in Scot Ads, he is currently selling about six litters of pups of different breeds.
Does anyone know what the situation is with this guy and why he is getting away with what he is doing? I am disgusted that Scot Ads are still accepting business from him, but they say that they will not refuse him unless they have proof that he is a puppy farmer!

Hi, good for you to follow this up. I hope you are succesful in stopping this individual. I think however that he should be classed as a "dealer" rather than a "puppy farmer", as from what you say, it sounds like he is dealing in dogs rather than breeding them himself. Poor little puppies, shunted from pillar to post. Good luck, I hope you track him down.

You could try to get Scot Ad to place a note at the beginning of their dog section that 'it is advisable to see puppies and kittens with their mothers'. That'll be a start.

Where abouts in Ayrshire do you know? I have friends inthat area and they might be able to help. They're doggie people and know most of the local breeders etc in their area. Further info needed if they are going to be able to help.

Hi Bear, yes I've heard of this guy, he has been investigated already by South Ayrshire Trading Standards, and there was a big write up on him about 6 weeks ago in our local free paper The Ayrshire Leader, I also know that he had adverts in The Daily Record and I think The Evening Times he either lives in Dalmellington or Dalrymple in South Ayrshire. He is selling puppies and saying they come with IKC documents, but, when trading standards went to the premises they found the puppies in filthy conditions, and NO PAPERWORK from Ireland at all. What area are you in as we dont get Scot Ads paper here, unless it is under a different name. I live in East Ayrshire, I know he is advertising Westies, Labs, and I cant remember the other breeds.

I know that this guy lives in Dalrymple, he is selling lots of different breeds, Jack Russells, Dalmatians, Rough collies, Labs, Retreivers, Shih zuhs ( if thats how you spell it! ) and lots more, though thankfully not my favourite German Shepherds, well not so far anyway.
Maybe he's not breeding them himself, but the very fact he's bought them from these farms means he is encouraging this evil trade, so he is just as bad as the puppy farmers as far as I am concerned. Scot Ads comes out on Fridays and Sundays and it covers all areas of Scotland.
I tried to get the Daily Record to investigate him, but was told that unless I got more evidence, like photos of the pups being kept in bad conditions, they wouldnt be interested in sending anyone out, not even undercover. Like I was going to go out there with a blooming camera!
When you think about some of the rubbish that newspapers report, I couldnt believe their wouldnt be interested in something like this, especially when it can affect so many people.
I would be interested to know how many people have bought pups already from this guy, and have found them to have health problems, or to be timid cowering wrecks?
Has anyone on this board bought a pup from this guy?

Just a quick update re the puppy farmer/dealer from Dalrymple in Ayrshire and in support of Mattie's recent posting. I actually sent information into this forum some time ago re this man. He has been reported by a number of people and at least one lady who purchased a Westie from him took things as far as she could. It was at this time that he was investigated. Where there were "papers" for the pups, these were found to be forged. Others are sold without papers or it is explained away that the pups are registered in Ireland. When the trading standards people investigated the pups were found to be in filthy conditions. It is most disappointing that he is advertising once again. He is a particularly unpleasant individual and has been known to suggest that prospective purchasers "do not want to fall our with him"! - whatever that may be meant to mean.

I do know that a 5 month rough collie which was purchased from him is about to be received into rough collie rescue - fortunately the lady who had bought the pup took it to a reputable vet who both refused to give it away free to another home or to put the pup down and referred the lady to rescue. Once it comes in I should be able to provide an update.

For information as well as advertising in Scot Ads, he is also advertising in a number of local papers. Last evening I received a report of an advert having been seen in the Falkirk area.

Most dog people in the immediate Ayrshire area are well aware of this man's behaviour and activities but the people most likely to be caught out are the unsuspecting public and pet owners. Please keep up the good work of passing on your experiences and giving sound practical advice re buying of well bred and reared puppies.

Also to the lady who was looking for details about Betty Bloomfield (the neonatal puppy and kitten clinic) she is in bishops stortford, Hertfordshire and runs the clinic as a registered charity. Princess Grace of Monaco supports her work which is the only clinic of its kind in the world. I have personnally used Betty services and her dedication is second to none. She, herself, is an ex nurse and she has her home equipped through with tiny incubators and the puppies are fed every hour by tube. She has close involvement with the veterinary profession and also with nutritionists. If anyone can help these pathetic, often infected, tiny bundles, she can. If you ever need her services, you will find her extremely helpful and totally dedicated.

Does this man advertise in the P&J? If so, I'll tell everyone I speak to what to look out for.

What specifically should I look out for in his ads, as I read the pets classifieds in the P&J most days? Is there a particular phone no. or something? I am always suspicious of "down south" ads in the local paper anyway - I always wonder why they can't sell their dogs/horses in their local area!! (Call me suspicious . . .)
