I have tried searching for a website for Autarky so I can research this feed but cannot find it. Does anyone know their website address?
By Sandie (**) [gb] Date 17.10.03 17:26 GMT
Just type 'Autarky' in your search engine and it should bring uo sites that will give you the info you need, I use it for my springers and have had no problems.

Hi

www.autarky-foods.com I've used it for the past 6 months and have been recommending it to all my doggie friends :-)

Hi,
Just started mine on Autarky - had two 15 kg bags delivered for £30.25 from CSJ K9 Ltd - is that about the normal price? (2 bags of food £24, parcelforce £6.25). I'll have to find out what they charge in the pet shop, but it's not always cheaper.

I pay £11.49 for mine from my local animal feed stockist (Bristol). I can also get it for £13.99 a bit nearer to home. I too cannot recommend it highly enough and if you have any questions just give them a call as they are very helpful re: stockists, etc. I also had a chat with them at the CLA Game Fair in Leeds and they seem knowledgable people. At the end of the day, my dogs look great for a reasonable price. The guy who owns the company works his spaniels so understands just what I need from a food.

PS Why is cat food so much more expensive than dog food? I use their cat food too but its more than 4 x the price (as are other brands too).

Apparently cat food has got more meat in it, as being carnivores, they don't do well on a diet which has got cereals in. So I've read anyway - like you I was looking for a cheaper food (currently pay £34 for a 10 kg bag, which isn't even the most expensive cat food)! The cheapest I came across was Oscars multi-mix -10 kg for £16.99.

Surely the cheap and cheerful Whiskas stuff hasn't got high meat content. I recently paid £1.09 for 500g BOGOF - she didn't like it very much. I will keep a look out for meat content now - Autarky dog food has high meat content, I might try her on that!

I am sure they do deliver on certain days for certain quantities. Give them a ring and find out, they are very very helpful and will be quite happy to dish out free samples, order for you, etc.

Presumably the puppies have the food well soaked to begin with - are you still advising the new owners to soak when they take their puppy home?
Thanks,
Cathy.

By the way, I discoverd Autarky by chance in our local Tesco's - but now we buy it in larger bags from a pet warehouse.

Called in at the local pet shop today, and they'd just had a delivery of Autarky - their first ever - the shop owner said the 15 kg bag is £11.99, which he said is cheap, because it normally retails at £17! Now I don't know whether he was telling the truth about that! After all, even with postage costs, I didn't pay that much from the other place that delivered it!

Have been getting mine at Jolleyes also for £14.49. Have to say it is the best food I have used for my dogs. Made my youngster up this year all thanks to Autarky. He is also top in his breed. People comment on how well the dogs look. Think that says it all. Wouldnt want to change now.
