I see Sandra's let you know about the old dog.
Sage was a real pal, went with me everywhere. We were like 2 kids together, neither grown up.
At her last check-up (July) the vet said she was fine for her age, but he reckoned she would not see the year out.
How right he was, she had a stroke out in the back field, and I made the decision there and then. Poor old sod just lay there. (I'm crying as I write this).
Phoned the vet who suggested I did the deed straight away.
I couldn't let her suffer, I owed her that much.
I'm sure she never liked the vet anyway. Only time she ever saw him he stuck a needle in her, it was only fair I did the right thing fby her.
As she got older she lost her hearing (as opposed to most dogs who have convenient hearing), so Dill the cocker used to rush in the house to wake her up if anyone came to the house, so Sage could bark at them, Dill doesn't do barking.
We've had a lot of tears in the last few days (mostly mine), but life goes on.
God I'm babbling now, better go.

God bless.......BB

Well I'm babbling now, so better go.

{{hugs}}/slap on the shoulder - be glad he was with you, not sad that he's gone.

Treat every stressful situation as a dog would. Pee on it and walk away

I'm so sorry to hear this Sedge. I remember seeing her a year ago. She was a sweety.

Regards, John

You have our thoughts with you today. We were forced to have our boy PTS on Sunday, this is my first day without crying (lots of Simon and Garfuncle played loudly tho!).
Whatever your reason for putting your dog to sleep you must remind yourself that it is best for your best friend in the long run. Be it health problems or otherwise it is your very difficult task to keep your dog healthy, happy and safe. If one of these diminishes it is sometimes kinder to visit the vet one last time.
My heart goes out to you and your family.
Love and hugs
