PLEASE HELP ME FIND A GREYHOUND IN MY AREA. I LIVE IN HARROGATE AND I'M INTERESTED IN BUYING A GREYHOUND. IF ANY ONE KNOWS OF ANY BREEDERS AROUND THE YORKSHIRE AREA PLEASE REPLY TO THIS AD. I AM NOT BOTHERED WHETHER IT IS A PUPPY OR ADULT. THANKYOU VERY MUCH, HELEN
Have you thought about Greyhound rescue? There are many ex racing greyhounds in desparate need of a loving home.
Looking at your nickname you dont have a cat do you? if so, I think that you would be better off with a puppy as an adult greyhound especially an ex racer would defintely not take to sharing their home with a cat.

Yes, do consider getting a rescue Greyhound. There are many many of them that will live with cats and/or learn to live with cats. My retired racer I had straight off the track and lives with 3 cats with no problems at all (it did take some patience at first)
Also some Greyhounds are needing homes that have never ever raced and therefore do not have the same keeness to chase small furry animals. Sometimes these are the dogs that are cat-proof. The rescue organisation will be able to give you details on each individual dog, but with so many needing homes every year, you are bound to find one.
Best of luck. They are without a doubt (and without wanting to upset anyone else) the best breed of dog there is!

Go for greyhound rescue....they have some just wonderful dogs there.
I live fairly near to you (Halifax, West Yorks) and have greyhound contacts. I have a few up for rehoming and my friends in rescue have loads. Mail me and I'll give you some contact numbers.

Try contacting the RGT (Retired Greyhound Trust). They re-home nationwide ex racing greyhounds. Although they use 'retired' in their title this does not mean that the dogs are old!! Greyhounds can 'retire' from racing from about 2years old the vast majority at 3 y.o. and the ones that either won't chase or just are not fast enough can be outed very young indeed. Some greyhounds are retired through injury, and while this may affect their ability to win trophys on the track, it is unlikely to affect their ability to be pets. I would always suggest that you get your 'longtail' from a specialist greyhound organisation, after all they know their breed best.Greyhounds often live in perfect harmony with small furry animals, so please don't assume you can't have an ex-racer and a cat..and rabbit..and terrier...and chickens...and.....
