There have been a number of posters complaining that this new board is too hard to navigate. On the other hand a good number have people have said that it is easier to use than the old board.
So if you are one of those people who finds this board easier to use, why not share your technique with the rest of the community.
Mark,
I have to say I find this board more user friendly than the other one, once you get used to it.
Also I've noticed it seems to be a lot quicker than the other one.

Glad to see that you find it easier and quicker to use. So do you browse each category individually or use the "new posts" option or perhaps another method ?

Hi Mark,
Well, now I am used to it I love this board

I did try out the New Posts option but found it a bit heavy going and a little confusing. Not to mention hard on the eye.
I prefer to go in from the main page and look at the topic's that interest me first, then browse at the other topic's there after.
It is so much easier to follow a subject now and you don't have to keep using the back button, which in itself saves time and effort

Great board, well done.
Twilly xx
PS; love the edit feature and the Smileys

PPS; just a thought .. is there anyway that the definition of the symbols (new posts etc) can be given on the first page as well as in help ? Think that might make it easier for the new posters and it doesn't have to go into huge detail does it
Mark,
Sometimes I use the new post button other times I just go from the main menu and scroll down depends really.
I do think other people will get used to the new board if they give it a chance and have a go.
Trouble is some people hate change.

I never use the New Posts entrance now, I find the http://www.champdogs.co.uk/cgi-bin/board/forum_show.pl to be the easiest option now. The only problem I find is that if you see something but because of time decide to post later, when you come back it's lost it's new post flag and can be very difficult to find.

It could be possible to add a "bookmarks" section where you can personally bookmark posts that interest you.
Do you think that would help.
Yes, I think it possibly would Mark. I'm a bit of a yo-yo. have a look, go away, think of an answer then come back, so I do lose track of postings sometimes. But then, It could be my disordered mind, or even the malt!!!

Doesn't anyone have any useful tips to share ?

Ok I have one. When you reply to a message check the box marked "Email Replies" and you will then receive an email when someone replies to your post. This saves you having to keep returning to the board to check for updates.
Yes, I do that but I thought the others would be doing it as well, although there is always a marked reluctance to read the help file and I'm as bad as the rest in that.
OK so you want tips, try this! go into the help file and click on and hilight the section you want a record of, (I hilighted the Markup Tags and the Emoticons). Click on File at the top of Internet Explorer and click on Print. click on the Selection tab in the print menu and then on OK and you will have a permanant paper printout of all those lovely smileys!

Just back from Cornwall! I am giving this board a go- but although I can manage to post a message, I have no idea about anything else.
I will obviusly have to learn, don't mean to moan but the other board was much simpler for a computer duffer like me. To be honest i don't even understan d some of the conversations on herenow!!!!!
Also I want to be friendly but feel that I may not be in the right section and that I should just stick to the subject, full stop.
I want to show some loyalty, as the previous board helped me a lot and I had a lot of fun from it, and also I am really glad to see that we are being asked our opinions and ideas, I feel that is the way to go.
By the way, I did post a message on the original board to Mark asking why he wanted to change things, of course I never got to see the reply as I was away.
Came back and it was all gone!!!
Hi Lindsay, welcome back! Try fiddling with the board in options. I find the print size is too big and I can't get enough on the screen so I changed it to 11. There are a number of options to play with but if you make a note of what you start with you can always go back to it if you mess it up! As far as the Pee (sorry Pea) green is concerned that changes to blue after you have read the post! As to the catagrees, we'll get Mark to fix them sooner or later, just tell him what you would prefer
Best wishes, John :D :D
