Could anyone please tell me how I can search the net to get some questions about a hip replacement which seems to have gone so awfully wrong for my dad. Dont want to burden people with the problem and very upset at the moment about my dad. I have tried putting in the words 'hip replacement' and 'medical question/help' etc into AOL but cant find anything that tells me anything at all about the operation. Any ideas about what I should do would be very much appreciated as I have lots of questions to ask the hospital consultant but want to get things straight in my mind first. I am very grateful for you taking the time to read this. I have been trying since 4pm and have in and out of this board as well to keep me sane !! Gina PS Not very good on the internet!

Gina, try
Google. Type in Hip Replacement, Hip Replacement Operations or Questions.
Theres loads of stuff. Good luck and I hope your dad is ok.
Type in ask an expert or ask the expert.I did this when hubby had a coronary bypass and I got a list of cardiologists e-mail addressess some were very helpful some didn't even bother to reply luck of the draw really but I found the ones that made the effort were very informative

Thanks you all. Went into google .. amazing .... I couldnt find anything on AOL wasted so much time, Have printed plenty off and have a lot of info nowfor when I see the consultant. Will use google in future! And I put in expert and have had a reply already along the same lines as the info I had and a bit more. Dad is having a 'revision' op within the next week so I hope this does sort it. 5 general anaesthetics in 4 weeks is a bit much I think but they say it has to be done. Thank you all so much.

i hope i didnt upset you - in our case although he reacted to the anasthetic after the second op he was recovering nicley and begining to become the person we knew again but in the end it was all to much for him and his heart gave in coupled with a major stroke. - im sure that your father will be fine, keep up with barney - it helps a lot having somthing to take your mind off whats going on - even if it means dragging yourself and a nutty dog (after not having been to agility for 2 months due to seasons/christmas and exams) out in the freezing cold to! these dogs are certiantly a good excuse for a distraction!
hope all goes well with your father
no of course not ... I feel for you .... I am sure he will be okay just a shock that it went wrong. Gina
