We are getting desperate.
Our puppy ate two two frames, floor in the kitchen, some walpaper when she was about 3 months - then she got a bit better.
Now she is 5 months and she started on our sofa - expensive sofa.
What shall we do?

You need to spend more time with her.... she is bored and needs something else to think about. Have you been to training classes with her? How long are you leaving her for? She is probably getting her adult teeth thru and all dogs need to chew to help this... but she should be chewing on something good for her.... chewing on furniture will not do her any good, if she gets splinters in her mouth it could work out expensive at the vets.

i would but her in a cage,or indoor kennel while you are not there beacuse it could be bored.an other thing is she may be loseing her baby teeth and the adult ones are coming through,but what alot of people forget is that that adult have to settle back in the jaw after they have come through the gum.a dog jaw and head change up to two years,so there alot of things happening in the mouth as well,give her lots of things to chew on,like ears ears,tripe stick,chews,cooked bones from pet shop,theres alot of things out there for her not to get bored.

Hi Briedog. I agree with using indoor kennels... I couldnt live without mine, but if this dog is being left all day then a cage isnt the answer. Its not fair to keep a dog in a cage for 8-10 hours overnight and then 8-9 hours during the day. (The average working day being 9-5 with travelling!)

If the dog is being destructive whilst only left for a short period, then more exercise could help the problem. If the dog is tired it will sleep. If this is the case a cage would be a great help. but the dog is obviously bored and needs to be occupied. Maybe guest will come back and tell us the circumstances that the dog is left in?

Hi Guest,We have a puppy she is nine months old I have owned the breed for over twenty years and she is the first destructive one I have had,She isnt left alone and has the other dogs as well for company,anyway Ive given her chewys and bones etc and the other day I came accross a toy Id forgotten about its a big ball and you put biscuits in it and the dog rolls it about and collects the biscuits well two hours Minnie played with this toy I was amazed you could give her this when going out,so try one of those as well they are available from big pet shops etc..

what breed is the dog,some breed are more,destructive than others.
