Hi,
Funny story. Workmate of mine keeps a rabbit in a hutch outdoors. Kids in the street found a similar rabbit wandering around, thought it was hers and put it in the hutch, (somehow they didn't see her own bunny), and when her dog alerted her there was something amiss in the hutch, damage was already done! Now she doesn't know what to do, i.e. when bunnies will be born, how many to expect, what to look for so that she can separate the sexes and when this should be done!!! Poor little doe was in a bit of a state as you can imagine, left quite traumatised by whole affair!
Any help welcome.
P.S. Randy buck is now back with his real mum who thought this tale was funny too, maybe she should be paying bunny care expenses eh?
If it's her first litter which I suspect is the case then u can expect anything from 2-6 babies depending on the breed and how long the buck was actually in with her.Just because she was in contact with him even if they have done the dastardly deed it needen't mean that she is pregnant ,she may not have been ovulating at the time ,chances are though that she probably is .When the time comes just make sure she has lots of extra bedding so she can make a nest for the babies and no matter how tempting it is dont disturb the nest area for a fortnight or so not even for cleaning .just put food and water in as quietly as u can.Nursing does can be very tempremental hand have been known to kill and eat babies if disturbed
good luck and if u want any more info e-mail me
we have 4 dwarf lops and I a dab hand at it now
