I'm going tomorrow too. Luckily my husband has got a pass for his work car park and is taking the kids to see the Dinosaur exhibition at the Museum of Science and Industry. Bliss!

Not taking my girl though - she's still in season. Going to cheer on my friend and her GSP, have a look at the Goldies and a wander round the stalls. Heaven :-)

Well went to Manchester, not sure if I'll bother next year,At £20 entry £3.50 Catalogue parking even discounted was £5.00 and you would imagine there would be a seat to sit on,no there was only about aprox 15 seats round our ring and judging was for both sexes so stood up all day,the car park was a good ten minutes away carrying bags etc,It was nice to see friends and chat but I wish it was back at Belle vue like old times.I think Gmex is too expensive and God knows how people parked Fri day and saturday.

i went to Mancester today and got a 2nd in Post grad ..............qualified for next year now.
I was horrified to find out i had to pay £8 to park in the underground bit i cant remember paying this much before i got there at 9:10 and eventually was parked at 9:40 couldnt believe the queues ......the access for people with trolleys etc is pathetic
so ill have to really think next year but if the judge is good then ill brave it probably.......
at least im home anyway
time for a relaxing bath

You could have got a discount ticket from the table in the main hall I didnt know last year but remembered this time and it would have cost you five pounds but even that is really steep on top of all else.Well done on your win though bet your pleased

I went to Manchester on Friday and was lucky enough to stumble on
a space in the main car park.
Arrived at 12.30 (as only had bitches entered ) and after getting 2nd in PG (17 entered :-) ) I thought I had lost my ticket only to be told it would cost me £12 :-(
ripped the whole car apart found my ticket and had to pay £7 for 3 1/2 hours in a car park. What a rip off, just glad the trip was worth it though I wasnt going to go.
Still we will be there again next year :-)

Diane, I heard you had an excellent turn out of SWD :-)
By dianep [gb] Date 11.02.02 19:00 GMT
Wasn't hard seeing that I took 3. Wd. never do it again at the prices they are charging but seeing that it was the first time that we cd show there and I only live 10 mins away it was worth it. There was an extra SWD that attended 15 minutes late, because she'd been looking for the dog that had gone walkies!!

Hello!

Yes I went to Manchester yesterday (Saturday) my friend and I got there in plenty of time thankfully as finding the Car parking was no easy task! We ended up on the multi story just outside the G-Mex, we had to walk in through the underground carpark and then take our trolley up an escalator!! This involved me hanging for dear life to the front and one of the stewards holding the back level so the dogs didn't freak out!! What a game!! (There is a lift but it was taking about five minutes per person to travel up one floor and back down again!) The show itself wasn't too bad, my friend qualified her puppy bitch and we were both pulled out but unplaced with our young boys. The journey back was worse than the journey in and we ended up with my friend waiting at the front of the G-Mex with the trolley (rather than take it DOWN the escalator, YIKES!!) whilst I tried to find a way to get to her!! Would I go again, it would depend on the judge to be honest with you, £20 was a lot of money to part with, I can't see how they justify it to be honest with you. But the one thing that made me laugh was the sight of Frank Kane looking very smart indeed with a walkie talkie in his hand directing the traffic into the multi storey car park, a new career there maybe?

Hi again!

Yeah we thought about asking him about his new "Career Move" but he was busy avoiding getting run over when we walked past him!! Certainly worth the entry fee to see that, and I must say Good on him for helping out like that!

The jury is still out on next years show until I see who is judging!!

Cathryn :-) ;-)

If its frank kane worth £30 LOL
Very fair, good judge with nothing to prove it would be a pleasure to be thrown out by him

Hi!

Couldn't agree more on that, he was one of the first Champ show judges to put me up when I first got started, although he did throw out my boys Champion Mother when she was still in the puppy class many years ago;(, she was made up within four months of that;), probably not quite his type I suppose:) she wasn't mine, she was my friends and I suppose he corrected things when he gave me a Best Puppy in Breed with her son;? Just a few old memories is all, I'm not knocking his judging in the slightest;)

I think he is a great judge, not ever done anything for my dogs but you can see what he is looking for and he is always respectful when you are in the ring gives you your moneys worth so to speak.

Couldn't agree more, now when is he next judging my breed? (Quickly looks through diary!!) Ah!! December and he's judging bitches, typical!! I am showing a dog right now, mind you I might have a future star for him to scrutinise!! :-) :-)
By emma [gb] Date 10.02.02 22:26 GMT
Yes I like him too he likes a dog that can move and placed my boy in 2000 very nice man!!!!!!!!!
By mattie (*****) [gb] Date 10.02.02 22:32 GMT

I was there yesterday (Sat) and actually got there without getting lost at all AND managed to get parked without any problems!! :-)

Better still, I made up my Mittel so I may not have to waste too much money going round all these shows that are in awful venues or have crappy judges! lol

Hi,
We went and our puppy bitch won her class, and our dog was in junior, and came 3rd, then got bumped down to 5th, which is a bit annoying.
I do agree its a long drive it took us 4 hours, but when we got there, they saw our disabled pass, let us drop off outside the front doors and then the car was parked in the car park, close by, with no problems getting in or out, perhaps we left at a good time. But, having to pay £5 for a car park ticket and not needing it, because they parked us the exit side, of the barrier is a bit off.
We won't be going next year.
