Just asking out of interest only...... but
if someone has a KC registered dog and wishes to show them however not under the breeders affix can they change it.

Just puzzled as I have an Afghan who (in the opinion of many top Afghan Judges should be shown) however due to many probs I have had with him including his temperement I will not. That is my choice and my opinion as I beleive anything in the show ring should have as close too a 100% temp as possible. He however does not and therefore will remain just a family pet - as are most shw dogs I hasten to add.

My point is His breeder on hearing of his probs just advised to have him pts even though she had not seen him for 3 yrs. No offer of help, no visit, no nothing. Now we are getting along fine and that for me is enough, I have no intention ever of showing him however if I did and he was succesful I would hate this breeder to gain the recognition because of his affix. Call me petty but a breeder who does the best for their breed and their puppies would not of turned their back and maybe someone out there has a potential show quality dog that has overcome the probs I had to a degree they feel confident anough to put it in the show ring.

A breeder (and I use that term loosley) who only wants to know when things are going ok does not deserve any recognition as far as I am concerned.

Just wondered and as I said only hyperthetical but interesting none the less.

And no the Lord Muck of all Afghans will not be being shown, god forbid I would inflict the showing world with him

Sorry Lisa - all you could do would be to add your own affix, you wouldn't be able to remove the breeders' affix. It's not really about recognition of a breeder - if you think about it, pedigrees would become very difficult to keep track of if owners could just change any part of the name they wanted to (no matter what the reason) In the old days, owners could change names totally - a dog could be sold with one name & then turn up in the show ring with an entirely different name, most confusing! The KC stopped this practice some years ago now.
