Hello there folks, this is simply me releasing my anger to people I know will understand!
Yesterday, I took my dog Morris to the beach as I do every day come rain, shine, hail (you get the idea!!) and this is the only beach on this stretch of coast where dogs are permitted in the summer/spring due to irresponsible dog owners not picking up after their dogs (a subject often exausted on the board!!) any way I as I'm sure all you lot do go out of my way not to break these rules and follow strict guidelines, and often carrying bags of 'waste' around for hours until I find a bin. any way to get to the point:rolleyes: I walked onto the beach and a woman 50 metres away shouted 'OY, NO DOGS ALLOWED ON THE BEACH' to which I replied had she read the sign, she would know that we were allowed from that point onwards, to which she shouted back, on her high horse 'WELL i HOPE YOU ARE GOING TO CLEAN UP THAT DISGUSTING MESS' as Morris decided that was the time to poo!(such timing!) and I was rummaging for a bag. so I told her that I was in the process of doing this and called her very rude (not quite what I was thinking)
the point is that how dare someone scream accusations at me or any other person, especially when we go out of our way not to offend anyone, even though there are never bins where they are needed and half the places to excercise dogs are restricted, yet ignorant people still feel that they can criticise us and tar us all with the same brush as the few irresponsible people who wouldn't care if someone did criticise them anyway!! please let me know if any of you have had similar experiences
emily, and Morris :-)

Dear Emily and Morris

How rotten for you - there are such a load of rude ignorant so and so's out there that seem intent on spoiling other peoples fun. You are obviously a much better person than her so "BIG Rasberry's" to her.

:-)

Hi Emily
rotten trip to the beach for you. I rarely venture into public places with my mob as there really are some strange folk out there, just very fortunate to live on the moor within my own farmland, so dogs & hounds get varied daily exercise without having to deal with the plebs!!!!

how lucky you are! never mind I'm not going to let anyone stop us from enjoying our run around!

good for you emily, I have friends who are subjected to barrages of abusive on a daily basis, because they have to excercise their dogs in semi populated places, so I feel for you. Only hope that your responsible attitude can make up for the less thoughtful ones who ruin it for the others!

Hi

I was out in the Forset once, and had a lovely walk with my 2 BSD's (one still a pup_) and I had to walk next to a great big family having a game of cricket. Anyway I had nearlyreached my car when they started saying horrid tings about my dogs and then, I couldn't believe it, an old bloke cam eup and threatened to hit my pup with his cricket bat! He held the bat above my little pup in a threatening mannerj.

I was upset, shaking and furius and poked him in the chest with my forefinger, sayiing How Dare You Do That. Unfortunately some other peole saw me and thought that I was beng horrible to him! (If he had hit my pup, my pup could have died).

I shoved my dogs in the car and had planned to eat a sandwich befor edriving off, however the bloke wiht the bat thencame up to the car and threatened ME with his bat. His son-in-law (apparently) was with nim and I could see byhis face that he thought the old bloke had gone a bit too far and made a mistake by threatenng mej.

It was back in the mid080's when there was alot of anti-dog feelng.

It took me along time before I gotover it; all I can s ay Emily is that "There's a lot o fit about" and that there'll always be fools and idiots.

since this happened I have discussed it with many of my dog owning friends, and to my horror have found that this kind of attitude is all too common! my next door neighbour told me a story of when she was out walking the dog on the beach with her children, and meg(the dog!)( began doing her business, so as she got a bag out to clear up someone (an adult also with small children) began throwing pebbles at Meg and shouting obscenities at them! how sad it is that people must be so aggressive towards us all,

Unfortunately a few (well a LOT actually as not cleaning up after your own dog is one of my biggest pet peeves) people who are careless and inconsiderate about cleaning up ruin it for those of us who are responsible. They tar us all with the same brush.

I feel like 'can you not SEE I'm standing here with a bag in my hand to pick it up. Are you BLIND as well as STUPID??'

And as for the stone throwing - I'd have said something along the lines of
'Well, I was going to pick it up, but don't need to be stoned to death while doing it so you'll just have to deal with it staying...'
