Previous Next Up Topic Dog Boards / General / Dog Walkers who don't clear up

Daily I walk my 4 hounds and always clear up after them. I carry plenty of
doggy bags out walking and are lucky to have quite a few bins in the area.
What annoys me are people who make NO attempt to clear up after their
dogs. If I have a friend with me I'll boldly speak up and say politely would they
like a bag to clear up (inclined to be ignored or sworn at). But if I'm out
without human company I haven't got the guts/nerves to say anything.
Only the other day I watched a middle aged lady with a Westie just walk away.
I do wait a minute or two just incase they are a bit slow to get the hint.

I quite agree, however if you do say anything to some people they would probably get aggressive with you, and it's these people who force councils to close public areas to dogs, on with the crusade!!! Maybe if all of us carry extra bags for lazy people ? or encourage councils to offer free bags to dog owners? having said that they probably wouldn't use them so it would be a waste of bags!!
It is important to make sure that they are not going to clear up anyway though as being told to do something you are about to anyway can be very irritating! (see my 'people without dogs message!!!)

Hi

It seems to be oftenthe same people everyday, but one dog 7 days a week is a lot of poo!!!

Often I find owners are not looking at their dog who is behind them, having a poo. The owner is walkin g on ahead and notnoticing or realising what their dog isdoing. The dog thenraces to catch up and they never know! Still, that's certainly not an excuse by any means.

Your right Lindsey it's no excuse because the owner usually knows exactly what their dog is doing and pretends not to see. I take great pleasure in sweetly offering them a bag and then watching their reaction which is usually embarrassment :o If their reaction is anger I am quite happy to have it out with them as I think it is a damn disgrace, especially when I live right next to a beach and have to watch children playing next to dog foul.

Pam, send your lot my way and I'll gladly sort them out mad

Sorry about that folks but this subject really gets my goat, I feel better now I've got that off my chest ;-)

Some people in this area/neighbourhood are snooty/posh (live in 6 bedroomed
detached houses) and it's beneath them to clear up !!!!!
Also I see a teenage boy who walks a labrador who won't - but I don't want
to hear a mouthful of slang from him.

**winking** You won't get a lot of backtalk when you point out that not cleaning up is in direct violation to most Council laws and that it is an offense punishable with a fine.

Oh yes!!! and I forgot the most important part -- wave a camera at them and tell them to smile pretty for the magistrate!!!

Sadder to see the exhibitors at the Novotel Hotel in Portugal, for the World show , leaving the mess all over the side and front hotel lawns. When the next show people want to book i wonder if the hotel will let them, spoils it for all of us.Stevie.

I was surprised by this at the Belgian show I attended. I was told that the exhibitors do not clear up, they have special people employed to go round clearing up for them.

Yes, I also witnessed this in Belgium Joan. At the show I attended they had the local scout troop kitted out with brooms and buckets to clear up inside the building and in the excercise area. The entrance to the show and carpark was absolutley disgusting.
