Pet shop puppies
For all out there contemplating breeding without any knowledge. please read this poem and give thought to the heartbreak that can follow.

that was a vary sad but enlightening poem as up until now I had not really looked at pets shops in that way, but I will use the knowledge a pass it on .

Mixed emotions? sad that it happens, that it happens and how some people let it happen!

i read it- its very sad- i also visited the site looking at the ones asking for homes---its unbelievable!

So sad. I read the poem and then looked at the photo of the pupy mills - unbeleiveably sad - I couldn't bear to look at any others. Perhaps someone should start a campaign about it to inform the public better about buying puppies- AND kittens for that matter- from pet shops.Perhaps we could all go to our local MP's surgeries next times one is held and complain about it and see if something could be done to change the Breeding of Dogs act to ban the sale of puppies and kittens in pet shops. Most MP's do surgeries regularly - ours does one monthly - the venue/time is always in our local paper. Or has anyone any ideas about approaching it differently. Lets try and DO something about it folks. I am not sure how many members this site has, but if everyone did something, I am sure it would make some sort of impact. Anyone "up" for some fly posting - I expect most of us have printers!!

I'm up for that WL. Anything I can do to help. Having read that poem, and still crying over an hour later there's no way I could sit here and not take action.

I printed a copy of the poem and allowed my daughter to read it, she then took it to school and showed it to the teacher who then read it out to the class and had a discussion on it. It makes people sit and think because like me the teacher hadn't looked at petshops in that way and the teacher was even contemplating buying a pet shop dog and he is really pleased he was shown this poem as it has educated him on the matter. Sharing the poem with others is like a huge chinese whisper and only good can come out of it.

Hi debbie, what a brilliant idea. I shall do that too - take one to school. Does anyone have any other bright ideas to share about how to get this info across to the public, but staying within the law? Is fly posting illegal ? I feel passionately about this subject and am willing to spend some time on it, maybe even set up a pressure group or something. Any guidance or help or ideas would be appreciated, please feel free to e mail me. Admin - are you happy for this thread to continue or should I keep this "private"?

It is a great idea I have printed some for the schools and will give them to my grandchildren to take in . Well done you two mari

On visiting another site I spotted someone who was proposing to buy a dog from a petshop as she couldn't get a rescue as they have children - so I posted the address for the poem, and they are no longer considering a pet shop:)
