I am just doing the transfer of ownership for Bailey (at last!The orginally forms got lost in the post ) and was just wondering the difference between the basic and enhanced pedigree forms? Or should i save my money? :D

I think one is for a three generation pedigree and the other is for a five. But feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

I paid the higher option on the form, can't remember how much it was and I got a 5 generation pedigree. It looks really nice and is currently framed and hanging in the hallway!!

Glad your pedigree looks good, I got mine last week and was upset to see that most of the sire's side of the pedigree was blank!!!
Having rung the kennel club before ordering the 5 generation pedigree to check they could do it ( my pups father is an American import) and being told it could be done, I was dismayed and not very happy.
I have now told the Kennel Club I'm not happy and they have checked their files and don't know the pedigree! I am now in the process of returning the pedigree, along with a copy of what should be printed so that they can update their computer and I can hopefully get my pedigree.

I don't know how this can be, as in order to register an imported dog a certified pedigree from the country it came from has to go to the KC with the application to register the iport (3 friends and I have Imported a puppy from USA in January, and have the form ready to send, as soon as his American paperwork comes through), so that would mean they should have at least 3 generations behind the sire!

That's what I told the KC when I rang to complain but she says it's not on their database!!! I brought the pup from a close friend so know all the paperwork was done on the sire etc.
It's not like it's an unknown dog, it's AM. CAN. CH Beechcroft Regal Air (Labrador) who they don't know what's behind him, as well as the other American dogs in the pedigree!!!
I suppose I can't ask too much - they did manage to do the English side of the pedigree.

The girl on the phone didn't like it when I told her my labradors could run the KC more efficently and I'd get the dogs to run the pedigree off the computer so that the research department could update their database!!!

No, you can get an ordinary 5 gen pedigree as well as the 5 gen enhanced one. The enhanced pedigree is in A3 size and in the words of the KC "makes a real statement celebrating the benefits of Kennel Club Registration and will include an embossed seal and colour printing with Champions printed in red text". In other words it is better printed and advertises the Kennel Club.

I had read the Kennel Club stuff on the form just wondered what the difference was - think i might go for the Enhanced one

I did ask hubby what he thought and his reply was 'whatever' :D

Tracey, hasn't the breeder given you a pedigree? The Kennel Club will just supply the same names of a different piece of paper if you already have one from the breeder!
