I must say the the policy of removing posts for sites links that you are affiliated to is ridiculous. For example I have no commercial interest in posting a link to my site but a lot of people have asked in the forums about pictures of Max - yet any link provided for updated pictures is removed and yet it seems ok for some people to post links to certain sites that contain pictures of their pooch. I don't think this is a very objective method and don't really appreciate emails telling me the links have been removed because I was advertsing a site. Whats going on ? Is this a personal vendatta ????

i think you're allowed to suggest someone clicks on your profile--the link will be on there,

The
forum terms of service clearly state what is allowed and what is not. All members must agree to the adhere to the terms of service before posting.
We have nearly 1000 forum members, many of whom have a website containing pictures of their dogs. The purpose of this forum is discuss dog related topics, not for self-promotion of anyones website. The blanket "no affiliated site links" is in place because the moderators do not have time to make a judgement call on every personal link that is posted.
Here is an interesting discussion on
forum spammers.
Is this a personal vendatta ?Not at all, we endeavour to apply the rules consistently to all forum members.
Incidentally a "look at my profile post" is treated in the same way as leaving a link and will be removed.

I'm well aware of the Terms of Service and have read them from top to bottom - you're obviously missing the point. The question I am asking is why is this silly rule in place in the first place ? What is wrong with promoting a non-commercial web site ? Why is this a problem ? Also just tonight I have seen links to other discussion boards displaying photos although not a link to a personal site the content is the same. What is the reasoning for this rule - I just don't understand why this rule is in place - why are any links allowed ? Someone must check the links to see that they are not personal links otherwise you could just post a link saying it was information and it was a link to a personal site!
Now I see where Max is coming from........:D

I understand where you are coming from Tim and that it is a post made by me you are referring to. I ummmed and ahhhhed before posting the link as I am aware (and fully understand ) the rules of this board. However as the link is not to an affiliated site to any of us on here I decided to go ahead as I felt many people would like to see the pictures as so much has been said about the dog on here. If Marie or I had a web site then pictures would have been posted there. As a long term poster on this board I am aware that personal links can be made in posters profiles and I very often check a profile to see if a link to pictures etc (as I did to view Max). Had Marie posted the link then that would perhaps be viewed as "unsporting" but I posted it and I have no link to that site or to Marie so no rules have been broken.
However - should Admin wish the link to be removed I have no objection to this and will not take offence at their decision. It was never my intention to start a war over this !!

Sara thank you so much for posting the pics. You are very obliging to me and have gone to a lot of trouble for me when you dont even know me . nice one.

Bangor I wonder if you would like the whole board to yourself .You have the monopoly on it for a few weeks now anyway. we all tried to advise you . some here advised you above and beyond the call and are still doing it for you . I think you have been treated very well here. I dont think you are being very nice hassling administraters over a few puppy photo's . It is not very sporting of you . Some of the other members wanted to see the pics .why have you a problem with that. they are pics of my new puppy for gods sake nothing else.
When we become members of any site it is a privilege to be accepted and we agree to terms. It is not to come on and then try to call the shots. think about it !!!! Mari
Mari,
Just seem your pic's and she is lovely such a cutie.

I'm not getting at anyone for posting pics but am simpling asking why this rule is there in the first place. I am a member of quite a few boards, some of which are not doggy sites but none of them have this strange rule. The thing about spamming is a red herring as this could be done without posting a link - it was done recently about Schutzhund and was posted on every topic in the Behaviour Board. But it seems ridiculous to me that if someone asks in the forum to see pics of Max I cant refer them to my profile link or post a link to them.
Sara,
Did you know you can upload photo's to http://www.care2.com ??
You don't need a website to do this, it's free and you can then link/upload the pic's to other sites you may be on that allow the posting of pics.....(and no, I'm not affiliated with it in any way!

I've had a nosy round your site before and Luca and Gus are lovely. Gus reminds me of the boy I lost - the dark long coat does it

Thanks again, Sara

A poster has left post asking people to look at her profile and then click on her webpage if they wanted to see party coloured poodles.
Is that the same thing?(29.03.02)
The post is still there.
I'm a bit baffled by the "problem" here. Obviously Admin doesn't want us using the board for selling pups off of, and I'm glad about that. But I don't see any harm in seeing the dogs people own. The dogs we are talking about and the regular members who own them. I am glad to see my friends new babies. I hope that does not become restricted.

Not posted to anyone in particular.
We can see people's puppies if they have a website. I do it all the time by clicking on the profile. Admin doesnt stop people putting their websites under their profiles. There have to be rules and I for one will abide by them. But if anyone wants to e-mail me pics, as Mari and others knows, I LOVE seeing them. Sorry Mari hope you dont mind me using your name here as I am not being ..cant think of the word I need but I think you will guess what I am saying......! :o
I believe Admin are quite correct.

I agree with 'Bumblebeeacres' (that was a mouthfull- might not now since it took me that long to write the name:D) and couldn't have said it better myself!
As for 'Max' it's absolutely lovely to finally see him- we hear enough about him. What a beautiful looking dog (GSD's my breed though so I may be biased;) ).
Like I said I really enjoyed scouring all the photo's him it really is soooooo nice to finally see him and put a face to the name sort of thing!

Well done Banger I can finally see what the off-spring of Satan looks like:D ( Nobody bite my head off I'm only joking;) )

He IS Satan, not his offspring :P
Banger those are the sort of comments that make we who have followed your max's progress feel like its banging our heads against a brick wall, this board is good...WE ALL!! have had posts removed been censored etc... thats what makes it a good board..personally I think you have done very well from admin you have exhausted all avenues on here and are helped by everyone please dont P**** on your chips by critizing a good set up.
glenys
I think I've had as many posts removed as anyone and in most cases i can see the reason. Sometimes I can't but then, I can't always see the big picture so I just accept it. Remember, when you decided to post you accepted the rules of the board as we all do.
I'm trying to work out what the p**** means. Should it be p*** ? I am intrigued.
