Could anybody recommend an Idiots Guide to showing/competing in obdeience please (the different levels groups etc)? I am looking into both and I am trying to get info from a variety of sources but I am getting in a right pickle especially with the initials! I have seen some books on amazon (one takes 3 - 5 weeks delivery so that's probably the best one), so I thought I would ask for sugestions please?

Thanks Anita

Can probable help with showing why don't you e-mail me a list of questions and I'll do my best. It is 40 years since I had anything to do with obdience so don't feel able to help with that. Jackie H

Don't worry you'll be in good company. I'm at a show tomorrow so if you don't get a speedy reply don't think I've chicken out. Jackie H

If you go onto the ObedienceUK website, there is a section called 'Getting Started' which is worth a read for obedience newbies.

I have a wonderful book called "Dogs:How to train and show them" by Hilary Harmer, published by David & Charles. I have had it a while so it may be out of print, but you may be able to get it second hand. Its a wonderful book for teaching basic obeidience and how to bring up an obeidient puppy, and also has a section on show dogs/showing.
