AS REGULAR members will now I AM new to the forum
BUT I have been observing it now for 12 weeks (or 3 months)
I also have been posting
I understand that some debates can get heated at times & so they should ,but do let guest's & new members realise this is a very informetive forum,
I "we" have" been educated no- end
I would hate to leave it because of personall bickering
Perhaps we should have a colum for personal differences that members could link too & not guest'sWe Have been involved with dogs for 34 years when a subgect strays could it not be re--posted.
I.E : members state-ing new link to dis cus it!! instead of having debate infront of every-one..
This way people get the answers to thier questions withought personall debatte

SORRY DOWN IN the dumbs tonight

Cheer up Karl :-)

I think you need to go and surf the net and take a look at some other forums. It will open your eyes and make you realise what a safe and friendly forum that we have here ;-) Occasionally threads do get a bit heated but on the whole they remain civil. We have managed to debate controversial topics such as Foxhunting and Docking in a mainly non confrontational manner. Other forums that have debated such issues have ended up in out and out slanging matches. Both of these subjects and a few others, have been debated at length here and have always remained on topic without degenerating into personal attacks on individuals.

EVERYONE, no matter what their beliefs, gets a say :-)

Occasionally, a thread will go "off topic", and we try and get it back on topic or if need be, we will branch a topic and start a new thread. Our biggest headache as Administrators, is when a serious topic is 'hijacked' and the thread is then used like a 'chat room'. When this happens, it is very hard to branch as it usually happens bang in the middle of a serious debate or subject.
It then, in turn kills a thread dead! "Idle Chat" was introduced for just that.. CHAT :P

This is not an easy medium to communicate by and sometimes posts appear harsh and aggressive when they were not meant that way. Once you have been on the forum for a little while, you will get used to different members posting styles and it becomes easier to *read* their posts as they meant them :-)

Leigh

Sorry you’re down in the dumps Climber! Don’t take the bickering to heart too much. I've often said that if you shut 6 obedience instructors in a room for a week, at the end of that time they would still be arguing about methods for the first exercise! And the same thing applies to just about everything in dogs. There is a tremendous amount of knowledge on this board so it's no wonder that we sometimes disagree.
I know I’m one who argues from time to time but I mean nothing personal by it and when I do argue it is for (to me anyway) very good reasons.

Keep smiling, John

Sorry to hear how you feel, lifes a bummer sometimes, you know some mornings I get up and reply to a few posting and when I read them later I think that miserable old bag can't be me, but it is. Some days are just like that. Now to day I've been to a show and my inexperenced dog did not grumble at the judge, it's taken months to acheave that, and do you know what, I might just as well have won BIS at Crufts I feel that good. Tomorrow may be better for you, if not try posting a realy strong message, you'll feel better and we'll all forgive. All the best. JH

Hi climber, I know that I can get me knicks in a twist sometimes, but its only when I feel Soooo passionate about something and post sometimes without thinking clearly . I never mean to upset people, but perhaps I do sometimes and if so then I'm truly sorry. I try to remember the maxim " Reply to the post not the poster" but I dont always get that right. I should also remember to sleep on it sometimes, and not reply til the next day when I have calmed down a bit. Although it does get a little warm here sometimes, its nothing compared to some other boards which can be downright bitchy and truly nasty. I consider this board a safe haven. Everyone here has dogdoms best interests at heart , if you've been watching for 12 weeks I'm sure you know that. Hang on in there!! :-) If you've got a gripe about anything undoggy - let off steam in foo or idle chat, thats what I do! Jokes are welcome too!

Climber- cheer up! Don't take anything to heart- what you've got to remember is that things are more likely to get heated on here as there are so many different breeds and different things may only apply to specific breeds and so on also different personalities and so on. I don't think we're that bad- like Leigh say's the fox hunting debate got quite heated and certain people got my back up by taking to extremes what I'd said- but I took it like water off a duck's back:D really though it was quite civilised and there was nothing really rude or nasty said to anyone in particular:) I have earlier replied on a different thread about how wonderful I think this forum is:D it's great!

I think you should also take it like water off a duck's back:D

i remember doing that once---id just written how good the board was and civilised etc-then it all went pear shaped-some very strong personalities with very strong veiws landed up having a write go --BUT!!!!!!its all right now --we all have got over it and still speak our minds but still sometimes see things differently too :D
By Kash [gb] Date 07.04.02 20:03 GMT
I agree 'dizzy'!

It's probably the differences in us all that make this board! If we all agreed on everything then there would be no need for posting replies on threads as the first to reply would be answering for us all! Anyway if we were all the same the world would be a pretty boring place.

Climber- cheer up and take my earlier advise!:D

when I started posting on this board only 6 months ago I thought I had fell into the middle of world war three, , I was that upset I was not going to post again I felt some people were really nasty . since then I have made some great friends , and have become so fond of everyone I feel they are like an online family . nobodys perfect Karl and everyone have their off days , some have bereavement and illness So behind the post is a human being with all the same troubles as the ones you can see face to face, so come on and get a grip:d it is a discussion board , and discussions get heated at times . best wishes Mari :-) :-)
