WHAT !!!!! ??????
there is no such breed as a dwarf weim, if you find one it would be a classic example of a money making trend adopted by bad breeders!! if you want a weim I would suggest you go for a healthy one from a reputble breeder who isnt just in it for the money!!

As Lisa is in the USA, this might explain her search for a drawf version.
Is your daughter called Snow White and if so, why only one?
If you want a small, grey dog I suggest you look at miniature schnauzers.
If you want a Weimaraner they come in one colour and one size, (and it is not economy).............!
Why would anyone want a dog that more than likely will have health problems and die within a couple of years?
Doesn't anyone think you are being a bit harsh? Lisa may not know all about puppy farming/BYB/crosses, everyone on here always moans on how people go to the wrong places for their dogs, but when someone asks an innocent question they get all of the above.
Lisa, as has been said a dwarf Weim, just isn't a breed, you will be very hard pushed to find a cross breed that has resulted in what looks like a dwarfed Weim. If you don't want a pedigree dog, why not try some of the rescue homes? They do have puppies if you were after a pup. The main thing you need to do, especially if you are after a weim, is read up on the breed. As far as I am aware they are not a breed for everyone, and most would do better with an experienced home. However even the most experienced weim owner at one point had her first dog, so everyone has to start somewhere!
If you are after a weim, or a smaller pure bred dog, please please please seek a breeder who belongs to the breed club (and therefore adheres to the clubs code of ethics) Just type in 'puppy farmer' into the search facitlity on Champ Dogs, to get all of the info you will ever need about puppy farmers.
Please don't be put off by peoples reactions above, these sort of crosses is a subject close to many peoples heart, and they are a soft bunch really!

I just googled Dwarf Weimaraner out of curiosity as I'd never heard of it and the first site I looked at (Weim Club of America) detailed a list of possible health problems. Dwarfism was listed among them and it said >Normally proportioned dwarf, immature and retarded; may be fatal. Inheritance: autosomal recessive<
So if the OP had done any research into Weims at all, she would have discovered (as I have, from looking at just one site) that far from being a good family pet, a Dwarf Weim is the product of a genetic abormality and is likely to be a very sick dog that will almost certaily die young. Is this really the pet she would want for her daughter??
I agree that the OP should perhaps consider an alternative small breed of dog for her daughter if a normal, heathy Weim is not suitable.
Opportunity knocks...
Temptation kicks down the door
Yes but this is what I was saying, just by asking a question like that, we all knew she hadn't done any research, but instead of getting on the band wagon and just making stupid comments, I tried to give her a bit of an insight. I have said she should look into getting any dog, but just because at the moment she hasn't got a clue, is this a reason to be sarcastic and unwelcoming?
All we can do is to try and show people that getting a dog isn't a case of going to a pet shop and picking the cutest puppy you see. Lisa has many avenues she could choose to take, I was trying to stop her choosing the wrong one. Sounding off at her wouldn't have done anything to help, she would have still been looking for a 'dwarf Weim', and may well have ended up with one of the poor pups you have just read about.
Come on, we all know most people don't look up a single thing about the puppy they want, maybe if Lisa hasn't been scared off already, she would now like to look into it at least a little bit, so she knows the basics - it is better than knowing nothing!

Sorry guys, it just bothers me when there is someone asking about these cross breeds (or in this case deformed) and no one puts them on the right track, is it easier to have a go at them for not having the same knowledge as someone else?

I don't understand it.

Dont worry about it Natalie most of the users on this forum hear the same things popping up constantly so they're patience wears thin after while, it just aswell people are joining all the time at first before they get ruled by the forum.

I realise that people must get fed up with saying the same things over and over, but surely for the sake of a few words, it would be better to say the same thing 1000 times, than to have a go of them, as I said these people have got to learn somewhere, I would have thought that people would have seen that a dog forum was the best place to teach them?
I suppose the other problem with it, is as I said above, it is a subject close to many members heart, and this is probably contributing to the emotions that always run high on these types of threads.
JMO, not having a go at you susantwenty :D

I dont think you are Natalie but i do respect alot of the people who use this forum they do have knowledge whats worth it's weight in gold.

Same here, I have many times said about how many pople on the boards have more experience than I could ever hope to gain, but sometimes, with some people, they should use their experience a little more constructively, instead of rolling their eyes because this is 'just another person who wants a designer cross'.
As I said the people who come on to a site like this and ask after a "breed" that doesn't exsist, obviously haven't done any research, and surely this means we would have a good chance of showing them the right way, rather than intimidating them, and bullying them into running away quicker than their legs can carry them?
Sorry, it just winds me up!! :D
