I have used Panacur for all of my litters (seven), and only had problems (bad) with my third!
My first two litters were wormed in Utero (wormed the pregnant dam)and then at 3 1/2 and 7to 8 weeks, per vets instruction.
With the third litter in 1997 I was sold the wormer in the companies packaging with instructions to worm 2 1/2 to 3 weeks, 5 weeks and 8 weeks. I wormed them first time and they seemed to be a bit quiet and two were a little squitty when Mum cleaned them, but in a day or so all seemed well.
At 5 weeks wormed again, and all hell broke loose! Projectile stools, loss of appetite and weight gain nil for the time they were loose, and only a pound for the week, (would expect 1 1/2 to 2). The pups tended to be a bit loose whenever wormed after that, by new owners, and the one I kept went off her food each month, and became a picky eater!
The same bitch had the same number of pups the next year, this time with much trepidation I did what I did for the first two litters. No problems and no hickup with weight gain! the 3 litters since then have been fine also.
I do take the precaution of dosing them straight after a solid meal, first day after their 2nd feed, second day after their 3rd, and third day after their 4th meal. My theory is that the little immmature stomachs were stripped by the wormer when they had little to digest (as the bitch was done in whelp, and so had her Dam).
I still use Panacur 10% for all the adults!
