moved from here

Hi Clare thats exactly how I feel, I just couldn`t write it down.
I am terribly sad the puppies didn`t make it as well. Regardless of what the virus was, from the symptoms that were described, they should have been on a drip from the very beginning. You didn`t need to be a vet to know that.
By the way, to the poster who said that maybe the virus could be coming from abroad, viruses can be picked up on shoes & clothing & any body who goes abroad, "HOLIDAYS" for example, can transfer them that way as well. I mean,UK could`nt possibly have anything like that of its own, its got to come from some where else

What about the rats in the Chunnel, too? There's a good possilibility for sources of new infections. Also viruses & bacterium do "evolve," so something that's there on your soil could be mutating & shifting into either new animals or new symptoms.
Just a thought.

I've just been reading about heartworm. It's carried by mosquitos and there are cases now in France. So, with global warming and the predicted spread of mosquitos to the UK, this must surely mean that at some point in the next 20 years or so, heartworm will become endemic to the UK as well.

Hate to say it, but heartworm is all over Europe now....Germany, France, & Italy have had it for quite some time. I'm surprised hasn't shown up in the UK.

10 years ago, I was told by both German & American vets, there was no heartworm in Germany/Europe. When I returned 3 years ago, it had moved in & settled here. Although, many of the US vet personnel told me it has been here for decades & I was misinformed the last time I was here.

Don't know what to believe these days. The world is becoming too small sometimes :-(

The article I was reading said that the main reason it wasn't in the UK was due to our lack of mozzies. But with global warming an' all, who knows :-(
