Can anyone help? I was asked this question and really do not know the answer. As AI bred dogs are not allowed to be registered in this country with the KC and therefore could not be shown, can progeny bred by this method be shown in the UK that was bred overseas?

Are you sure that AI bred dogs can not be registered - I don't think this is right. There are certain regulations that have to be followed and permission has to be sought but you can get permission to import semen and AI the bitch so you must be able to register them, you can also store semen and use it later - a friend has semen from her first home bred champ stored. Also there was something in one of the dog papers last week about the first litter born in this country from fresh semen imported from Sweden. (Previously only frozen semen had been used in this country).

I also think that any dog registered in its own country would be eligible to apply for the KC A.T.C and be shown regardless of whether it was from an AI bred.

Joan, you are right. AI litters can be registered :-)
